Not since a school mate tried to make out that he'd got his fingers wet off a girl and "convinced" us of this "fact" by getting us to smell his fingers when all he'd done was share a bag of Scampi Fries with said girl. I'll confess that it's a 'trick' which I've imitated but not with the same desperate aim of trying to appear to be romantically successful. More often, it would be "I've just been chatting with your Mum" kind of stuff, or "guess why I had to go to the headmistress's office."
