I love the Ogorki ones from the Polish shop on Gorgie road opposite McDonald's, always got a bag of them in my fridge

Gherkins are barry.

Olives are barry.

Other excellent veggie tapas includes sun dried tomatoes, stuffed peppers, artichoke hearts, grilled aubergine, pickled onions (proper traditional style in malt vinegar and tons of spices), pickled walnuts and kimchi/sauerkraut.

Fine on their own, but far, far better with a fine selection of cheeses, cold meat cuts, plenty good bread and a few cold drinks.

I agree with all of that, when your next house party?

Stuffed vine leaves as well by the way, the cold ones with rice.

And there's a hot version with mince.

I can't remember the name of either of them, but it's the thought that counts.

😉

I have never been able to find the pickled cabbage you get from certain takeaways on your mixed kebab, I've tried all the supermarkets over the years to no avail.

The only thing some supermarkets do that is close to being good, is Gold Star brown sauce, which the chippies water down.

Great post, would add a room temperature red wine as drink option too.

I'm not recommending Mcdonalds in any way, but see the people who pick the gherkins off their burgers...

They should be jailed.

Pub down here does panko coated slices gherkins with a ranch dressing.

Shouldn't be good but they're ****ing magic.

Now I'm swithering about having tapas for Superbowl instead of my traditional pizza, hot dogs, fried chicken and fries.

I had an ex that would sit and eat gherkins from a jar when we were watching telly of an evening. It took very long tooth brushing sessions from her before there was a chance of any kissing during the nightly exertions.

PaddysBar

New Year’s Day we made a plate of pineapple, pickled onion and cheese cocktail sticks.

They were just as good as I remembered them as a kid in the 70s.

Marvellous.

Sadly not. @ArcticJambo didn’t have any spuds. Wank.

They were good though, cheeks and tongue puckered for days😂

Edit - the wank was in the wrong place, not on a bus or anything though😂
