JudyJudyJudy
I love them. But they are hard to find nowadays . I assume due to their unhealthy content. I bought 4 last night at Asda but they werent the best quality. Anyone know a place which sells quality ones ? Samuel Camazzola
Stephen's make them and supply them to some stores too (Spar and Co-op). Aldi also stock their own ones which are OK for supermarket versions.
Australis
Love them. Watched the hairy bikers making them one programme and they kept adding butter to the pastry folding it, rolling it and adding more butter, folding it rolling it time after time. No wonder they taste so good, but they are like a heart attack on a plate. And I add extra salt on mine too. Eat them sparingly.

Benzinho
Love a buttery. My grandparents lived in Stonehaven and always used to have them for breakfast when I was there. Bought from a bakery are always best. Never been able to get them quite the same down here. The ones in Asda are the closest I've found. It's confusing what rolls can get called in different parts of our country. We were on a trip down to Argyll and Bute a few years back, and were in Campbelltown when we wanted something sweet from a bakery for a quick snack. I saw a "biscuits" sign, so thought that'll do...not realising that's what they call small rolls in that area. Not what we were wanting! SupaJT
Always called them butteries rather than rowies, absolutely superb heated up with a bit of melted butter on top. Like to think of them as a dense Scottish croissant!

lost in space
Tesco sell a pack of 6, which are very good. They are not soft - and I prefer them when not soft. According to my family (fisher folk), they were originally taken on board fishing boats that were going to be away for a few days. They do go harder - but because of the fat content, they don't go off as quickly as morning rolls.
