Up here a few years back an Eagle owl escaped and settled in the city centre……..no other birds were spotted in town for weeks until the owl was captured………there things are nails in the bird world: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-highlands-islands-21243686 Edited January 26 by highlandjambo3

Cade
Princes St Gardens is a disgrace all year round. January > Xmas market fecks off, leaving the grass deid and the gardens a swamp. February > Council rips up the deid grass and rotovates the ground so now it looks like a bad day on The Somme. March-April > No man's land. Big craters full of muddy rain water. May > Council lays new turf and bedding plants. Turf mostly dies right away, first rain destroys the flowers on the plants. June > Gardens look presentable, if you ignore all the dry, dead turf that's curling up at the edges. Plants in beds are only leaves since all the flowers died ages ago. July > Remains of bedding plants removed, turf covered with steel sheeting in preparation for the Festival shows. August > Festival shows knacker everything all over again. September > Festival shows feck off, grass all deid again just like in January. Oct-Nov > Nothing done as it's too wet and cold to fix the gardens. Remembrance garden laid on plastic grass on top of the mud. Nov-Dec > Xmas market moves back in. And all this on a so-called "PUBLIC" space, which in fact has been commercialised by the Council. I remember once getting a Bomb the Bass CD from the Central lIbrary circa mid 90s, stopping off at the baked tattie shop top of Cockburn St before heading into East Princes Street Gardens. Tattie scoffed and cd notes perused I didn't think twice of using the cd to freflect the sun's rays into the eyes of the multitude of greedy pigeons strutting around me. Hunners of them there was back then. Meanwhile, as I drive the highways and byways of Scotland, there's barely a day goes by when I'm not braking for their dumb af big cousins, the woodies. They do make for a decent puff of feathers mind, and let's face it when it's the workls van, the dent ain't my problem!

Greedy Jambo
I can't remember the last time i was in princes street on foot, there's absolutely no reason to waste your time going there anymore. I was through there quite regularly doing deliveries in the van, but it seems i will need a new van now.

The view of Arthur seat over the North bridge. Walking down Leith Street and I tell you that church top of Broughton Road across from the Conan Doyle. There's every reason to visit the city centre other than shops.
