My favorite is Deer Hunter and the 30 minutes or so at the beginning building the story and characters. What is your favorite beginning to a film 🎥

Inglourious Basterds has a magnificent opening scene. Shame the rest was pish.

Wow, you must have pish taste in movies.

Like all of QT's films with the exception of IB and Reservoir Dogs, pal.

I’ll agree with you on Reservoir Dogs. I don’t think it’s pish, but it has to be one of the most overrated films of all time. Love IB, tremendous film. Each to their own👍

TBH I always thought the action scene before the title credits with the sexy dancers in Bond movies is pretty cool...Just sets the scene - Bond film starting!

Reservoir Dogs is a film for young folk. I liked it at the time but see it as gratuitous pish now.

Pulp Fiction is a masterpiece.

Whole film is just sensational.

Remember coming out of the old Odeon cinema on South Clerk Street absolutely buzzing after seeing that. When back and watched it again a few days later 😂

It's one of those films I can watch over and over again to this day and still not be bored with.

Great performances across the board.

"Shadows and dust".

I know it doesn't fit with a lot of the genuine classics of cinema mentioned on this thread but I always loved the opening of The Spy Who Loved Me.

A lot of Bond films of days gone by really opened with some great entertainment.

Star Wars: A New Hope has a great opening as well.

Boom right into serious action and an introduction to one of the most iconic "baddies" in cinema.

I've got this on one of my playlists on Spotify...

Particularly fitting when I'm walking through fields in the summer (no I'm not Theresa May).

Saving Private Ryan

Beat me to it.

Daniel Craig's first outing as Bond. Casino Royale. You knew he had read the books.

The other for me is wizard of oz. As a youngster in black and white then colour

I remember my old dad telling me when he first seen it in the cinema when it wasn’t that long out, every kid in the cinema let out a gasp when she emerged from the house. Must have been something back then.

Great thread btw !

Baby Driver starts well with a great car sequence. Interesting the director knew what piece of music he wanted and built the chase action around that with the stunt coordinators.
