If they can divert the buses I don't understand why they can't do it with all traffic.

Stopping the traffic during the silence is at least a step in the right direction

Exactly.

At least Lothian Buses made the right decision which I'm sure they do every year.

Apart from the Trams that were dinging their bell during the silence.

That's not true. They dinged during the service but not during the silence.

Think it's worth remembering today, on remembrance Sunday, that those we honour didn't die defending 'their' country...they died preserving the liberty of all, regardless of their race, religion, colour or creed

As usual was a lovely service

Can't see anything on this for 2024? We are away at Ibrox in the evening but should be OK for players to attend for a short time. Only 11 days so time for an announcement?

Still nothing on the website. Can't believe we will not commemorate after all these years

The ceremony is as per usual.

And how is that "politics" getting involved?

Posted

I have never been to one of these . I fully and wholeheartedly recognise and appreciate how much it means to so many though

Should I ever go to one ? I dont believe in god and I am very opposed to fascism , imperialism and war mongering

Would it have a massive effect on me to go along one day

I very much believe that those who served and died or were terribly injured in service of their country should be respected and protected

Totally unacceptable the first team won't be in attendance...

I don't think it's a pity that someone who played a big part in saving our club will be there in his capacity as Secretary of State and as a Hearts fan. I doubt he'll use it as an opportunity to make some political point.

A disgrace that the men’s first team won’t attend.

Read the room Hearts ffs.

This sets a worrying precedent with no first team in attendance. Celtic can have league games rearranged for glamour friendlies, rangers can have the games arranged to accommodate their rework cockups yet we can’t have leeway to properly commemorate a major part of our history. I’d be disappointed if the club made no request to accommodate both the game and the entire Hearts playing staff in attendance.

The club commenting on not to congregate on the corner of Dalry Road or Grosvenor street as it is not as good a vantage point as Morrison street does not seem right to me.lt is more of a case of the city officials not being respectful to the fallen and shutting the roads off for 35 minutes.A minor inconvenience for what was given by those who we will be there to respect.People not long in forgetting what they done for our future.Forgotten times indeed

So have there been a few bitter atseholes of a Celtic and Hibs persuasion elected to CEC SPFL and SFA recently then

I was under the impression the game got moved to a 5pm kick off to give time for the team to attend?

The irony of X not bringing politics into it.

Just send along the injured players and let the 1st team concentrate on getting ready for Ibrox.

Posted

Really can't understand why the first team would not attend. The service lasts a little over half an hour and will be finished well over 5 hours before kick-off at Ibrox. If this is the case, it has the look of a decision made by someone who doesn't really understand Heart of Midlothian F.C.

Pity?

Really disappointed in this decision from the club, we’ve previously travelled to Aberdeen after the service, hopefully this decision is reversed.
some things are more important than football.

Yes it is a pity, shame team won't be there. I'm sure everyone was consulted and came to a professional decision.

On the subject of the remembrance parade bringing back an old gripe of mine was it not our club chaplain Andy Prime who chose the 100 year memorial to in my opinion deviate what he was there for and have a go at the Hearts support after the coin throwing incident involving Neil Lennon.Something he should have never involved in his service to remember the fallen
