R.I.P. Mathew Perry

He's had a massive problem with addiction over the years.

54 is far too ****ing young.  I say that as a 30 something year old.

I grew up watching Friends, and it's a huge loss. Whatever he was dealing with is over now, but ****, he could have done better.

Money isn't always everything.

He's a known addict who drowned in the hot tub, seems most likely to me too

Early reports is that he had a heart attack and drowned (no drugs found at the scene apparently). Wouldn’t surprise me as years of abuse can take it’s toll on your heart.

It is a shame tbh. I really liked friends, even when it became “cool” and “edgy” to hate the programme. Chandler was by far my favourite character and Perry was genuinely funny in real life by all accounts.

The early seasons of Friends were very funny and Matthew Perry was the main reason.  Plus Jennifer Aniston made it pretty much essential viewing.

I loved him in Friends, he was brilliant in it. He liked a good time, he was never going to die of natural causes anyway. Hopefully he was happy. Rip Matthew.

Poor guy really struggled through his later life. A few of the clips of them all together recently were hard watches as he was clearly toiling. Sad news.

The best one IMO is the one in the race car bed

Friends was fantastic television and he was the funniest of the cast. Seemed like a decent sensitive human being too.

Addiction is a hell of a disease.

RIP

It's interesting how this take can be had by many people in that position, it's as if the show or film has almost become more important than they themselves and they begin to almost hate it.

Like many, it's a show I grew up with, the first half dozen seasons were brilliant TV, of course Jennifer Aniston and Courtney Cox made it all the more pleasurable, but that aside it was good humour.

Any particular points you'd like to raise about her performances?

Pocket change. Sure the 6 of them earn about 10 million a year from Firends.

Most likely overdosed on pills and drowned.

“Most likely” you say, David?

How can you narrow this tragedy down so accurately?

Just a man with many addictions in his life tried so many times for treatment, failed and tried again. Then you read drowned in hot tub. So most likely too many pills consumed and drowned. Sad day for his family and the friends addicts whatever happened

Being reported by TMZ that he had been playing Pickleball in the afternoon then his assistant left him to pick up a new iPhone, they returned 2 hours later and found him in the Jacuzzi.

I have never admitted to liking friends but I did. It wasn’t anywhere near the likes of Frasier or Seinfeld but it had its moments.

He openly spoke about his addiction to painkillers so most likely is a decent guess.

Glad yous kicked the habit. Mines unfortunately didn't stop with oxys. Clean now but still have dreams where I'm using or trying to use 😂. Guess the urge will never go away, but the gaps between them lengthen over time. And yes Oxynorm was nice. 100ml and I'd feel like I was being cuddled by the clouds themselves. Although not as good as a snorted oxy.
