Make no mistake,  there will be Hibs fans who'll think the score was harsh on them.

It was harsh, though ... like getting your ring-piece wiped with sandpaper.

Very harsh, indeed.

I looked up the match report earlier. Apparently we had 3 shots in target! I certainly don’t remember them.
It’s fair to say there’s nobody in that Villa team that will break the world transfer record when they leave.

We had a good 5 minutes at the start of the 2nd half. Think I remember Stevenson having a decent chance? Nowt else mind you.

As long as they keep playing Hanlon Stevenson fish etc any one could rip them open never mind Villa

Well, their next match is at home v Livi.

Could be make or break for Wee Lee.

I think he'll be gone after the Kilmarnock game.

0-3 at half time. Poileas Scotia will probably tell Villa to cool it in the second half.

He did mention the Liverpool tie.

I'm also not sure there was much between that Spurs team and this Villa team. Van der Vaart possibly the difference. Got 1 point more than Villa did in the preceeding season.

Not havin' that mate

That spurs team were CL semi finalists or thereabouts; they'd have easily beaten this villa team

433 at home to Villa…leaving your defenders man for man with Watkins, Bailey and Diaby, the latter 2 probably in the top 10 quickest players in Europe. Utter masterclass.

Add in two of the defenders were Hanlon and Stevenson and it’s sackable!!

Yes but “the lions were after the antelopes, but the antelopes should have been aware”.

The man is an utter imposter - but we’ll suited to a club that’s an imposter.

Long may they be together.

I was just about to come on and post the same. That Spurs side finished top 4 that season. Nobody in the Villa team are the quality of Bale and Van der Vaart. Even Defoe and Kyle Walker.

Malinga the Swinga

For me it was when Kaboul ran onto pitch that highlighted difference in physique. He looked twice the size of our players.

Probably correct. He'll likely last that long; but not much further.

The mind boggles. There's not enough popcorn.

Most of it is trapped in said potential manager's teeth. 🤭

It was a very naïve setup and I actually agree slightly with the comparison with hearts spurs. That iirc was Sergios first game he just set us up like it would be an even game. Physically we were absolutely nowhere near the pace.

On both occasions then and tonight, a low block packed compact defence would have been the correct approach when faced with a gulf like that - an approach that was largely successful in limiting Liverpool. On both occasions it was instead made easy for the superior English side.

As for comparing the spurs team with that villa side there is no comparison, some Spurs, Premier League and World level GOATs were in that side

This. Yes it's funny laughing at Hibs but it's more important we keep our own house in order. Pride comes before a fall 🤷‍♂️

I'm enjoying the result but I don't think it's particularly hilarious. I think it's about as expected, no? And I'm not sure we would have fared any better. We lost 4-0 at home to Istanbul B last year.

Tbf Istanbul were probably going for it, Villa tonight didn't even get out of 2nd gear.

It's not much to shout about tbh and strikes as two bald men fighting over a comb.

There was a huge gulf in class tonight and there a huge one back when we played Spurs also.

Hibs won't manage a draw at Villa Park though. And Hibs wouldn't have ever been within a whisker of knocking a Luverpool side out either.

Nah, unfortunately Istanbul didn’t have to get out of 2nd gear either. Only Riga were forced to play against us.

Well it is always good to read the spectrum of opinions and if folk wanted Hibs to do well then that is entirely up to them . Personally I am gutted it was only five and I hope it is ten plus next week

Sorry I missed a bit of the game. In the interests of clarity and fairness I would  like a recount. There appeared to be a lot more goals scored than counted.

the posh bit

We can argue all week as to whether this Villa team are as good as the Spurs side from the 2011/2012 season however I suspect that when H1b5 don't bring the Scottish Cup back to Edinburgh next May after filleting their local rivals in the biggest game in both clubs' history, we will know for sure that they aren't. 😊
