Big Hearts was one of the first football organisations in Scotland to deliver this programme. The Changing Room is now taking place across 19 other Clubs in Scotland. Open to men aged 30 to 64, this 12-week programme offers participants opportunities to meet up, engage in activities together and start positive conversations about their mental health and wellbeing. The programme is held in The Shed, at Tynecastle Park on Monday evenings, from 6pm – 7.30pm. To get involved – Email [email protected] – Or call 0131 603 4929 (Mon-Thu) Since 2018, we’ve welcomed guests speakers including Scottish Cup Winners Andy Webster and Ryan McGowan, former Hearts midfielder Olly Lee & Hearts’ Women Captain Mariel Kaney. In May 2022, The Changing Room received His Royal Highness the Duke of Cambridge. In Scotland, men are one of the key-groups at risk of mental health issues. They are 2.5 times more likely than women to die by suicide each year, with the biggest group at risk being men in their 40s and early 50s. To challenge behaviours and save lives, the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH) initiated The Changing Room with the support from The Movember Foundation and the Scottish Professional Football League (SPFL) Trust.
