Meadows Posted July 13, 2008 Share Posted July 13, 2008 In the past 48 hours i have had four emails about updating my banking details,asking me to click on a link and enter security details.I never done any of them, The first was from LLoyds,One from Yorkshire Bank and two from Halifax, I do not bank with any of these people,i have heard of bogus emails but dont know what to do.... should i report them? if so, to whom? I've no idea who and if it would make any difference. Some dodgy company / individual will just have your email on a list, could have even been guessed. Just delete them? Anyone else get things like this? Not sure about the others, but the one purporting to be from Yorkshire Bank....forward it onto [email protected] and then delete the e-mail. Was reading the Sunday post today and a man was in it reporting he opened one of these emails, started to enter his details, (elderly gentleman) then deleted it as he thought it was dodgy. He then went for a statement at the bank and was 600 overdrawn. ?2400 in total had been removed from his account, he wrote to raw deal as he wasn't getting anywhere with his bank and they were not interested at all as they warn customers about these emails. He is now in touch with the police! Do not open these emails or give any information ever to them. Princess Posted July 13, 2008 Share Posted July 13, 2008 I've had a few (Halifax seems to be the scammers bank of choice) most banks have a section on their websites with emails addresses to forward any phishing emails you receive, if they have the addresses then they can get them closed down. If you have norton it has a Phishing protection and as soon as it opens up the URL it comes up with a Phishing filter saying that its not a real URL. If they've invoiced us and not given bank details, I'll either phone or e-mail to get their BACS details. That sounds class, got three e-mails from some guy wanting to give me ?2m, so I might try that. Is it possible when you reply they can hack your account etc though ?
