So were they shouting for Robbie to go or getting on at Sibbick?

Joe Savage was getting most of the criticism but it was widely spread.

We would be very unlucky to get a team of Fiorentina’s quality from pot 2 again. Apollon Limassol or Hapoel Beer Sheva from pot 2 would have been competitive games at Tynecastle and gave us a chance of going through.

That was very brutal; the very worst team to get; the teams in 1 & 2 would still be playing in Europe after Christmas even if they started in the Europa league

IMO… we are in a stronger position to secure that golden group stage spot than this time last year.

The gap was 9 points this time last year That’s with a couple more games played due to this season’s world cup fixture lag. Only 1 pt difference. But at the cup quarter final stage last season, along with ourselves, Rangers and Celtic, the likes of Dundee United, H1b5, St Mirren and Motherwell also remained in the hunt. Dundee FC were the only representatives from the second tier down.

This time only Killie join us and the Weej duo from the Premiership. Then you’re talking Ayr, Falkirk, Raith and Inverness. For a club to win the cup other than us C or R you are talking an upset that will echo for generations.

I predict some more dropped points from our rivals tomorrow and a chance to tighten our grip. Come on the gorgie

I would have liked to see either half of the Old Firm come up against Basaksehir. Their performance at Tynie was as efficient as I’ve ever seen

Something I'm excited about the potential of for next season is going into it again with a settled squad that know whats expected of them. Our squad this season is undoubtedly stronger now than last season, or even the start of this season. Shanks is flying high in confidence. Snodgrass is playing out of his skin, Devlin has improved tenfold, Sibbick is playing with confidence - there is quality right through our team. It would be nice to go into the conference next season with ambitions to get out of the group stages. Appreciate, that the draw will play a huge factor in this, but its something to aim for. You look at groups E-H and realise we got quite a tough draw with Istanbul and Fiorentina, if we can keep plugging away, there is every chance we might get a favourable draw and be able to go that extra stage further which would be fantastic for the club.

Arguably the most favourable draw we got this season was FC Zurich in the Europa League Play Off round, who we probably should have beaten given how dominant we were against them for 60 mins in the home leg.

Just noticed utd got 2 away goals at Barca as well. Tight affair that game, could be vital in the return leg.

This confirms that some folk really don't pay attention to anything before thinking.

Totally, and the 2nd leg at home was real fortune.

Quite easy to find the match threads. Home tie already posted above. You can easily look for them yourself.

Step 1. Use the search feature to look for threads with "Robbie" in the title.

Step 2: Find one that spans the date of a Fiorentina match and navigate to that date in the thread.

Voila! Pages and pages of it.

Decent draws for both of our group rivals, will see them both in the QF I reckon

Entirely possible that both make the semis as well, depending on draws. We really did jump right into the deep end of the pool when it came to European groups.

Definitely - wouldn’t be surprised to see the Fiorentina in the final. Did they end up selling the Moroccan chap who did very well at the World Cup?

Me too.   A draw is expected but I'm in for 0-2.  3-0 Fiorentina.

Istanbul hammered by mediocre Belgian side.

They had about 10 players in, 10 players out in January. No idea about any of them except one was an £11m sale out. Results seem to have gone down in the new year.

Extremely odd club it must be said.

Went to see KAA Gent last August. They narrowly lost at home to Royal Antwerp but they had some good players and seem really well run - stadium was world class.

Only six of the tram that started at tynie involved against Gent the other night. Certainly had a massive clear out in winter window. Doesn’t seem to have been for the better either.

Well that explains it. Any trams that come to Edinburgh end up being over budget, eh?

EDIT: Right, seriously, thanks for looking that up, that certainly makes sense.

Funny how things turn in a season. Basekeshir were definitely better than Fiorentina then but probably not any longer

That's not how it looked to me.

We had spells against Basaksehir in both games and in particular had a couple of great chances to go in front in the home game. Fiorentina barely gave us a sniff.
