chester copperpot
Anyone bought this yet? Bought it today as I like Weller a lot. Just half way through listening, enjoyin it so far, cant work out if I just like it, or love it to bits. It's brinking on superb for me. Very different to what I was expecting. So back to the original point, anyone got it, and if so, what do you think?

I expect to get a barrage of abuse from the Weller die hards, but I loved it to bits. There's so many different music tastes in there, with some real good piano bits, so there you go. Paul Weller, nay way near Stanley Road, but still a classic nonetheless.

Nothing will come close to Wild Wood, and Paul Weller IS ace. This new album is okay, not the best but far from the worst.

You're right with Wild Wood, both that and SR are up there mate.
south morocco
maybe it's about time PW gave up imo! His recent stuff has been as good as his haircut, totally rubbish,he keeps churning out the same old sounds since the early nineties, grow old gracefully paul and let your music do the same!,just my opinion of course. benny
Too many b side like tracks on it for it to be a classic.Narrow it down to about 12 and we would have an lp to rival Wild Wood.

Wild Wood (strangely, was an album of a similar length; track wise) is his finest solo album. Stanley Road is good, not great, WW is one of the finest albums of the last 20 years. Isaac Begbie
Some good stuff on it, but too many fillers and as already mentioned perhaps the track list needed to be trimmed a bit. Its a bit of a mixed bag in terms of style. "Sea Spray" could just about be from The Waterboys circa "Fishermans Blues" - Nowt wrong with that, i love the Waterboys, but not what you'd expect from PW.
