" A Tennessee school board removed Maus, a Pulitzer Prize-winning graphic novel about the Holocaust, from its eighth-grade curriculum because of profanity and anthropomorphised mouse nudity. "

It’s actually a really serious issue in parts of the US just now with books being banned willy nilly with Tennessee being particularly keen.

Yeah, I know it's really serious, but I just couldn't get over how ridiculous their second reason was. Simultaneously utterly laughable and hugely disturbing.

It's a ****ing outrage. The funny things is, all the right wing ****nuts are stoating about wearing yellow stars because the treatment of the unvaxxed is apparently akin to the actions of the nazis.

While they they want to ban and burn books. It'd be ****ing hilarious if it wasn't so sad.

Completely. I’ve been following the Maus story on twitter. The Texas case is shocking. 850 banned books and nearly all by minority writers.

It's a fantastic Graphic Novel. Even with the animal characters it's pretty harrowing in parts.

I read my own copy at least once a year since I bought it many years back. My eldest read it last year and it even seemed to teach him quite a few interesting facts about the holocaust he never learnt about in school.

Ridiculous and disturbing stuff. I’ve never read Maus and am now waiting for a copy - it’s on back order as this debacle has sparked a huge interest in the book.

It's a classic. Should probably be made compulsive reading in schools. Wouldn't be surprised if it actually is in Germany.

But the nutters in the States are totally against it because there's some nude rodents. Totally for a book that involves incest, murder and genocide when it's called "The Bible" though. That shit's the rock solid basis for society. Nude mice can get to **** though.

They don’t want anything taught about the Holocaust, racism or anything else inconvenient to their worldview. There’s a concerted effort by these right-wing nuts to take control of school boards across the country right now, with some success. Sigh.

You have to love the democratic "progressives" in the States. If it doesn't fit their narrative arc then it has to be expunged, destroyed, cancelled etc etc or if it's the police defunded.

I don't give a toss who's behind it; a laughable and sinister action is a laughable and sinister action whoever commits it.

Perhaps you should take note of who is responsible.
