Finished 4-1 to Hibs after O'Connor converted a penalty in the 81st minute.

Hearts started well enough and scored first through a great strike from Macauley Tait from 25 yards that came off the underside of the bar and maybe hit the keeper before crossing the line.

After the goal Hearts looked comfortable defensively for a spell but had stopped pressing and allowed Hibs possession.  Hibs didn't look particularly threatening but scored twice within a minute with two quality crosses from the left, the first knocked home at the back post and the second with a decent header past McFarlane.

Hibs thrid came on the break after Simpson lost possession in the Hibs half. McFarlane saved the initial shot with an outstretched foot, but the rebound fell nicely to another Hibs player who scored from the edge of the box.

Hearts started both halves reasonably well, but Hibs finished comfortably on top.

Hibs appear to be the strongest and most experienced side in the U18s league this season.  The result wasn't a great  surprise as 9 of the 11 starters in the Hibs side were 2004s (U18s). Hearts started with 4 x 2004s, 4 x 2005s and 3 x 2006s.

Hearts were also missing Flatman and Pollock who would probably have started had they been fully fit.

Hibs stronger Hearts missing Flatman.

What’s happening with him? , big reputation but has never made the step up to senior squad, and posted missing in a few of the mentions about youth games on here. Injured?

Sitting in to defend a one goal lead shocker?

Is Oconnor Jos' son? how does he look?

Yes. He's a decent player and has a good strike on him.  I thought Ethan Laidlaw (#8) was their best player today.

Thanks for that, sir.

Guess the hope/theory is that our 15 and 16 yearolds take more out of a defeat like that than perhaps the 17 yearolds take out of the win?
