In his one and only test. Mental.

And it’s all over. Very well played by Australia but woeful from England at the same time. A perfect storm.

Australia are kings again.

Game over. Fecking horrendous.

Horrendous?! It’s absolutely hilarious watching England getting humiliated! 😂

What a story Boland’s debut is! Love it. England absolutely hammered. Almost a disgrace that Jimmy never got another bowl on that pitch.

Oz "got the rub of the green" and things not going England's way.

Some weird comments from the BT pundits.

I learned enough about cricket to understand when England were getting pumped, they were brutal when I lived down there.

I might actually watch some highlights, 6 wickets from 4 overs lol

What a humble man Scott Boland is. Loved his interview.

I'd say cricketers usually are. Makes a change from football.

The poor guy seemed overwhelmed.

Wouldn't surprise me if Australia win this by an innings.

16/1 if you wanted to put this on at the bookies.

You know it's a doing when the Boxing Day Test is over before the yachts reach Hobart..

4 ducks

5 made single figure scores (one of them not out)

Looks like a doing to me.

Leg-byes 3rd equal highest score @5.

Skittled out for 68 and the best bowler in the world didn't take a single wicket.

But was pretty close to one in most of the 10 overs he bowled.

England hibsed it.

Humiliated.

To be honest,bi think they Englanded it. That was beyond Hibsed it.

Silverwood has to go and Root isn't a captain.

Possibly the worst ever performance in an Ashes match. I'd go so far as to say it negates Stokes test performance at Headingley.

Overhaul required.

And I can't see it being a quick fix...

I remember once the Aussies wound up England by suggesting that England were so bad at the time that they should look at changing the ashes test series to the best of 3, not the best of 5. On recent showings, it now looks like a sound proposition. ;)

Heroics by Anderson to get those 2 runs at the end meaning England equalled rather than broke their record 54 test ducks in a year.

237 innings and only 30 ducks. Not too bad for a number 10/11.

Jimmy Anderson batted 54 innings before his first duck. It's a record for England batsmen.

Now THAT'S the sort of thing that should go in a Christmas cracker 😁

A couple of late call ups to help Jimmy in attack.

England backs to wall again after Aussies declare. Crawley has to make most of his second life but they'll need to bat all day tomorrow plus most of Saturday to have chance to force win.

I just can't see it.

Some morning session.

Andy Zaltzman

BBC Test Match Special statistician

The last 53 balls of that session went for no runs and cost three wickets. In 16.5 overs, England scored 23-4 and there were two dropped catches.

_____________

Boland's last 2 sessions and he has 8 wickets for 7 runs.

And the 7 runs were on day 3 of the 3rd test.

2 for 0 in 3 maiden overs this morning.

Terrible insomnia rewarded with some unbelievably excoriating comments on the BBC website.

Runs are coming in droves now...

England are galloping over the hill now!

After 11 overs and not a single run.

Bairstow and stokes are starting to see the ball, now. They should put a big partnership together.

Oh and Root should be removed as Captain, asap. Stop fecking about and be ruthless.

Cummins should have caught and bowled there

I can't watch it as my missus pays the subs, the TV company says she hasn't .

Keep the updates coming. 😐

"Essentially: Stokes shouldered arms, the ball hit the stump and the bail didn't come off.

I, truly, have no idea why that was given out lbw. Anyway, Stokes uppercuts for a couple of runs."

WTF ?

I'm beginning to think some England batsmen can't bat 5 day test cricket anymore. One day and 20/20 seem to have taken their patience away, too reckless.

Just hit plenty boundaries and he gets a very good ton in a low number of balls faced for test cricket....
