As an aside, cyril had/has a brother Peter Knowles, a very talented player who was with wolves and was heavily tipped to go on to greater things. Didn't work out that way, at the height of his fame, he quit football to become a Jehovahs witness.

West Ham won both those finals in 1964 & 1980. Brooking scored the winner against Arsenal in 1980. 1964 score v Preston was 3-2 to the Hammers with Hurst Sissons & Boyce scoring. They also won against Fulham in the 1975 final.

Following their 1964 final win, they went on to win the Cup-Winners Cup in 1965 beating Munich 1860 in the final at Wembley IIrc.
