Geoff Kilpatrick
Gordon - 8 - MoM. Recency bias but those two saves won us 3 points. Class Smith - 6 - Solid. Had a part in the winner to make up for poor crossing overall Kingsley - 7 - Relatively quiet match for him but did his job like the whole back 3 Souttar - 8 - MoM stolen off him at the end. No matter. A winner against the manky mob Halkett - 7 - Again, solid and untroubled Baningime - 7 - Took a while to find his feet but had a storming 2nd half. Paired up really well with Haring Cochrane - 6 - Defensively solid but needs to work on his crossing Halliday - 6 - Did a lot of dirty work but faded out of the game Ginnelly - 7 - Excellent first half but faded out of things in the second. Will be a big player for us this season Boyce - 6 - Frustrating. Too many extra touches slowed things up Mackay-Steven - 6 - Opened the scoring and then did little afterwards Subs: Haring - 6 - Tidied up the shape and solidified us Gnanduillet - 2 - Barely got a touch
jambo89
Thought Souttar was incredible. Said to a mate at half time that if it wasn’t for injuries, he’d be Scotland’s 1st choice CB and playing with an Everton / West Ham right now. Just behind him was Gordon and Baningime. Both great! Like a fine wine, Gordon seems to be getting better the older he gets and Baningime reminded me of Jullien Brellier
Savage Vince
Gordon 10. 2 great saves at the end. Smith. 6 Kingsley. 6 Souttar. 9. Immense. Halkett. 6. Beni. 8. Great debut. Cochrane. 7 Halliday. 6 Gino. 6 Boyce. 6. Too many touches at times. GMS. 7 Subs. Both 6. Both added to the play at the right time.

Boyces beard
Gordon - 9, love the man Smith - 6, not at his best but you will never get less than a 6/10 Kingsley - 7, solid Souttar - 9, great performance, timing of his tackling was superb and big goal to win it. Halkett - 7, solid Baningime - 9, hes getting a 9 because it was his debut and that adds presure on its own, looks a class act Cochrane - 7, up and down all day, looks a good find for the season Halliday - 6, worked his arse off Ginnelly - 8, great work for the 1st goal and his pace caused them major problems on the counter attack Boyce - 6, not his best game but he will be huge for us this season Mackay-Steven - 7, did well and got another goal which will keep his confidence up. Haring - 6, big man made a difference when he came on. Looked great with Beni Gnanduillet - 3, done will in the short time he was on the pitch
AGoodLaugh
Thought Smith wasn't great, thought Halkett was only okay, Beni was absolutely unbelievable. Somehow always knew where to be. Everyone else - what a team performance. No one below an 8 out of 10. Outstanding

Francis Albert
Obviously a great and welcome result and encouraging performances by the new boys and from a couple of the old ones. But 9s and 10s for a team.that had 20% possession is a bit silly. The most backs to the wall success against the OF since Tommy Murray sat on the ball at Ibrox and crossed for Donald Ford to score near the end. The Mercer Takeover
Gordon - 8 As expected Smith - 5 Really poor first half, sightly better 2nd Kingsley - 7 Solid Souttar - 8 Superb Halkett - 6 No mistakes Baningime - 8 Brilliant 2nd half and debut Cochrane - 7 Quality player Halliday - 5 Large parts of the game passed him by. Hope he doesn't start next week Ginnelly - 7 Wouldn't have taken him off Boyce - 6 Difficult shift Mackay-Steven - 6 good first half Subs: Haring - 6 - Better than Haliday Gnanduillet - 1 He's had long enough to show us what he's got now and it's clearly not enough

I didn't think we were ever under that much threat bar the period leading up to the equaliser. We let them have the ball but we made probably 7 good chances in the game. Not much possession certainly but I have seen us under far more pressure against them with much more of the ball

I tend to agree - obviously there will be individual stand outs who you could give 8 & 9s to such as Souttar and Gordon as playing well in their positions is nothing to do with controlling the game or possession. I actually think another tenacious and maybe a bit more forward thinking midfielder in beside Beni and we could have gotten at Celtic more - there’s plenty gaps to exploit if you press them. End of the day it’s a great result and something to build on.

BackOfTheNet
Gordon - 8 - When reviewing the match before the winner I noted he hadn’t actually had much to do, but when he was needed, he again came up with the goods Smith - 6 - Was wavering on a 7 as he supplied the assist for the winner. But it’s quite incredible we have a RWB that not only can’t really cross (from open play at least) but also can’t seem to deal with wingers driving to the byline. Also poor decision making when he took a shot rather than play ball across goal. Corners poor too. Halkett - 7 - Gets a lot of abuse on here but was solid tonight Souttar - 8 - Immense winner and played a part in the opener Kingsley - 7 - Looking good as a LCB, might get less injuries out of him in this position too. Might have (or should have) done more to prevent their goal, but played well Cochrane - 7 - Despite the poor corners and a few shaky moments getting used to his opponents, overall played well Halliday - 6 - Has played well in the League Cup and started game well but was quickly overrun. Thankfully had a MoM next to him to help out. Was also very, very, very fortunate not to be sent off (never mind not even yellowed) for challenge on McGregor which was reckless Baningime - 9 - MoM, easily. The guy didn’t start well and took 15 minutes to get used to it, but the fact he pointed that out himself post match speaks volumes. His footballing brain is a step above. Genuinely cheered and clapped his challenges and break up play more than anything else (goals aside) in the game. A brilliant prospect and I’m so happy he’s ours. GMS - 7 - Started well and got his goal. Genuinely think he was a little too nonchalant at times and we had a few moments that a better ball could’ve had us in dangerous situations. Ginnelly - 8 - Knew he’d have to be taken off as in the first half in particular was one of the only ones harrying players and getting in their faces. Also worked out he didn’t need to outjump Taylor early and knew how to hold him off and get in behind. Wish he was on corners though. Boyce - 6 - Feel bad for giving a 6, but his worst attributes (lack of pace, urgency as well as too many touches and wanting too much time on the ball) all came to the fore. Even got a little lucky with the break of the ball at the first. Had some good moments and wasn’t terrible, but at times wanted the time of a game of 5’s which he needs to get past. SUBS Haring - 8 - Changes the game quite simply. Brought huge composure and ability to pick the right pass. Only downside was he had an opportunity to shoot and decided not to and lost possession. Want to see him in beside Baningime more going forward. Gnanduillet - 7 - Might be a high score for some, but was exactly what we needed when he came on (if not needed sooner). Showed intelligence in hold up play and knew when to head on or let the ball drop. MANAGER Neilson - 7 - I wasn’t sure about him giving Baningime his debut, but proved correct. There was a pont it was 80%-20% possession in favour of Celtic, so points knocked off for that, as it wasn’t for a short time. However credit given for making the right changes in bringing on Haring and Gnanduillet, however may have made those changes 10-15 minutes earlier.
