Really looking forward to this after last year was cancelled.

Any tips for tomorrow or course specialists running?

Not tomorrow but here’s some info from sporting life on national trends which I usually use for the National

And Waiting Patiently.

It's a hard race to pick a winner. Good ground and Native River will set a fast pace. Not sure if Tiger has a fast finish.

Owners being dicks. Moaned about his weight and then he absolutely trounced the horses he faced at Cheltenham. If he was running he would be very low odds. They'll be kicking themselves after Cheltenham.

Lost the chance to become only the second horse to win 3 grand nationals.  Plus his would have been consecutive, whereas Red Rum had 2 years to wait until his 3rd. Red Rum ran with 11 stone 8 on his 3rd and 12 stone on his second. You never heard his owners moaning like dicks.

Michael O’Leary is the world heavyweight champion of moany dicks though. Good to see Ruby calling them out on their pissing and moaning on ITV.

People will always try and have the favourite beaten in the National but sometimes, and more often than ever recently, it really is just the obvious horse that wins.

That's why E.W is the way to go with the prices so big.

Cloth cap could easily fall or be brought down by another horse falling in front of it.

Have you lumped on?

If someone offered such a 9/2 good thing normally it would be backed off the boards and end up no price at all.  It's 14lb ahead of the weights over 4 and a half miles.  It keeps out of trouble,  it wins.  But I can't bring myself to back it.

Nah, I've taken advantage of Bet365's money back offer (they give you half of your stake back as soon as you place a bet*) and have backed a fair few. Cloth Cap is one but that was the last bet I placed and I had planned to skip it.

*you have to have had an account open by midnight Wednesday and bets need to be placed before midday tomorrow.

That's the thing though, it's much easier to stay out of trouble in the race than it used to be.

When Tiger Roll won last time I hadn't planned to back it because of the odds, but at the last second I walked up to one of the on course bookmakers and chucked something on it. The year before was a last minute choice too.

I know,  it's probably the play to put enough on it to recoup any other bets you have on the race.  Another bet wins,  profit.

An each way bet seems a bit of a free hit...if it gets round.

Tom Scudamore and Jonjo O'Neill both seem to be a bit crap these days.

Is the horse REALLY that good?

Potters Corner or Farclas each way

Favourite a worthy one though on form

Another decent e/w shout you have named....has beaten Burrows Saint as well so no forlorn hope

There are that many with a shout after all it is a handicap

is his laddie not about 6 foot tall and utter pish at jumping though?

I'm going

Minella Times win only.

Small e/w on Potters Corner,  Bristol De Mai,  Lord Du Mesnil & Milan Native.

Sub lieutenant I feel is a decent ew chance and would have been better value as it has come in from 100/1 to 50/1. It would not surprise me if cloth cap won then both Rachel Blackmore and Bryony frost were in top 5

Based on nothing other than names and/or colours

Mrs F = Farclas and Mr Malarky

Moi = Minellacelebration and Minella times

Ok, Mrs Captain slog went for Magic of light e/w

I did half the bets on Sub Lieutenant and definitely red.

We used @The Frenchman Returns highly technical system to choose, and Ill never live it down if she wins

Another decent National winner.  I've had quite a few main bet winners.

I always feel sorry for the police horses escorting the winner. Like a couple of fat lasses walking into a party with their sexy pal.
