Tbf he's never been an Olivier or a De Niro.

Tremendous in Leaving Las Vegas though. Won several awards for the role too.

That’s what is so annoying about him, he’s been very good in a few films but the majority are utter pish. Though some of them have been enjoyable pish. For every Leaving Las Vegas or Joe there are a dozen Outcasts.

On the comedic front, always enjoyed Leaving Las Vegas and he was perfect for the role.

The National Treasure films were inoffensive and he was fine in those.

I've not seen Outcasts but recall a film from over ten years ago with Eva Mendes where his was a bit ropey.

Leaving Las Vegas - Excellent

Lord of war - Excellent

National treasure (1/2) - good

Face/off - Excellent

Kick Ass - good (over acted it slightly)

The rest - utterly pish.

Joe?

Rumble Fish?

Birdy?

Raising Arizona?

Con Air?

The Rock?

World Trade Centre?

All decent films. But as I said he’s also done the total turkeys.

I P Knightley

I've not seen any of the Terminator or Conan films but have seen Schwarzenegger in a handful of his "action/comedy" films (Last Action Hero; True Lies)

It's only his bad acting that generates any comedy in those films. Perhaps it's just that he's not suited to the action/comedy genre and he's the John Gielgud or Anthony Hopkins of out-and-out Sci-Fi/action movies?

I used to think acting was a piece of piss and anyone could do it, then I saw Irvine Welsh in Trainspotting.

A Boy Named Crow

Ewan McGregor in Rogue Trader. It's like watching an am-dram production at times...yet I really like the film!

Gillian Anderson in everything she has ever been in, special mention for her truly awful performance in Hannibal.

Gina Carano in the Mandalorian, and anything else she's been in. Reckons she's been "cancelled" because of her political views, but should have been done anyway for disservice to acting.

What film and who is this?

Tommy Wiseau in "The Room"

He's basically some random guy that decided he wanted to be a movie star and made his own film.

It's hilariously awful.

Yep, he was perfect for that film and played the character very well. He was also excellent in Red Rock West and very good in Snake Eyes.

Three films that I enjoyed a lot and can happily re-watch every few years.

Leaving Las Vegas itself was also pretty good, as was Cage in it. Undoubtedly, he can be painfully bad at times, but - in the right role - he's capable of very good performances.

One of my least favourite films and acting performances was Mary Shelley's Frankenstein, directed by and "starring" Kenneth Branagh. Now, I know he's a highly respected actor - or at least I've often heard and read this - but the film and performance was one big ego-trip for him.

You know that if an actor rips off his shirt at every opportunity (especially if they're directing as well) that it's all about "look at me, LOOK AT ME!!!" and the work they've done in the gym beforehand rather than any subtle acting nuances or their ability to make a character believable or interesting. De Niro was crap in it too, but then again why should he put in any effort when no-one else was?

It did make me laugh though, until I remembered that I'd paid good money for a cinema ticket.

In Cage's worst performances, he seems to be doing some sort of Jim Carrey impression. Carrey's overacting style works in ridiculous slap-stick comedies but Cage seems to try and bring this in to roles that are meant to be serious, or at least have a more subtle dark-comedy style.

I watched a few clips on YouTube. He is awful but so bad I am tempted to actually watch it.

Watch "The Disaster Artist" instead. It's a film about the making of The Room. Not sure if it's still on Netflix.

For sheer consistency across an entire cast it doesn’t get much worse than Hollyoaks. River City has some decent theatre actors in it who are directed to overact but Hollyoaks has a history of holding open auditions in various cities that mean they end up with people who’ve never acted but look right for the show. In fact all the soaps tend to have at least one person who is absolutely awful.

It's barry.

Picture frames with the stock photos still in them.

Shonky green screen.

Nonsensical plot.

Many drinking games have sprung out of The Room.

Nick Cage was good in Con Air, Wild At Heart, The Rock, Leaving Las Vegas, Raising Arizona, Lord of War and Kick Ass.

He's been in plenty of good films and put in some good performances in those films.

He's just been in so many films that it'd be impossible to keep any sort of high standard.

When he cannae be ersed he just chews the scenery, takes his pay cheque and says ta very much.
