Reminds me of one of the most traumatic days of my life. 
Getting on the top deck of a bus near a local school to discover it was the day an entire class of kids had been given recorders to take home. Without my headphones.

I was in the recorder club at school.

All I wanted to do was learn the bit in Wild Thing by the Troggs. 

 

Also having your own recorder meant you didn't have to use the ones kept in those basins of blue sheep dip.
