No idea what the message is. Does it need to have a message? Not sure. All I know is anything involving dogs makes me :sob:

I would imagine that the “partners” at John Lewis will be interested to see if their management spend another few million £s on a Christmas advert when their bonus was wiped out this year, after years of reducing drastically.

Who could have thought, years ago, that a department store chain like them could possibly find themselves in the financial position they are in now.

Pretty pish.

And it is creepy as ****

Rolf Harris with a pair of binoculars on the window ledge - doesn't surprise me.

Then the young Lewis Capaldi getting his specs fixed on the bus.

Not sure if it's creepy or just weird.

Hard to outdo the penguin one from a few years back.

A bit of a diversion for this year away from spend! spend! spend!  Maybe not a bad thing.

It is, but see that moment when the doorbell rang and they looked at each other? I could relate to that feeling of "here goes", I found it quite emotional to be honest.

I'm a foster carer, it resonated with me.

When that bell goes your life changes forever, hopefully the child's does too

Foster care is a wonderful thing, that isn't the issue i have. The whole advert is just the equivalent of one of those youtube videos where people film themselves doing good deeds to get likes and fame. Just do it and no need to advertise (not meaning foster carers).

And the song is absolutely awful.

The advert is to promote Who Cares? Scotland and believe it or not, they and the services they provide need to be advertised as there is a chronic shortage of carers.

The advert is shite, I agree with that.

It maybe does promote that, but the main object of the ad is to promote John Lewis and to make them seem like a caring, giving business, all to increase profits, imo.

Prime example. I've heard people say it doesn't feel like Christmas if they haven't seen the Coca-Cola lorry ffs! 😂 😂

It’s not Christmas until people get confused by this brilliant advert. That YouTube won’t bloody let me embed. Anyway here’s the link, it’s worth it.

Came in to post the same thing.  It's a,sair yin for the IT team that runs their marketing!

To keep it on topic, not seen a John Lewis advert in years. The way people get sucked into associating consumer brands with Christmas (I see Coca-Cola has already got a mention) is ridiculous... and the JL songs are invariably shite! I heard what this one was,  so looked it up on Spotify, deary me.
