You were never able to do that. The licensing authorities used to make sure there was a half hour break for legal purposes.

I agree with that. We used to go to the casino till it shut at 5.30am then it was Oman's Bar for 6am opening.

Actually, thinking back I think the casino was open till 6am.

This was my uncle's shop. He made an absolute killing, gradually changed the opening hours to 6am if I recall. Don't know if he was the first to do that.

Interesting to hear everyone’s experiences of 23 1/2 hours drinking. Now a thing of the past.

Swanny’s in north Leith still opens at 6am.
