We have seen a player who comes to Hearts and after a few games fans think this guy is great then the players form goes down hill and splits the fans view of the guy. After going to games regularly over 56 years the last the last 5 years have been the worst for signing players who start well and end up being huddies. Why does this happen ? well could it be scouting, taking loanees, bad contracts, dodgy medicals, poor coaching and bad management or any number of these who knows !

Surely it must come down to the scouting dept?

In my opinion Robbie dropped a bollock by bringing frear and Roberts in, he was right to say we needed width and to try and address it but needs to have the balls now to admit they’ve flopped and punt ASAP!! Both of them are out of their depth even at this level.

Jury out.

Feel maybe another djoum type character here where get a element of fans that think he amazing and everyone else left scratching heads why.

Early days though so have to give everyone a chance

Thing is Djoum was a far better player than Frear and Roberts (obviously different position etc).

Yep, Djoum was a good player for us, some thought he was lazy, but he scored goals and was effective and creative. Roberts and Frear have shown nothing to suggest they are either good enough for us or even for the league we are in

Just bad scouting.

It seemed like it was slim pickings in summer given everything going on. I mean we were after the winger Drey Wright Hibs signed and dodged a bullet there. He's awful. Going for experience at this level seemed sensible but they've both been disappointing, although initially looked ok. The fact he admitted he's looking at wingers for January suggests they'll be gone sooner rather than later. If Ginnelly wasn't injured it wouldn't be such an issue though. Roberts was brought in to provide cover up front but he's been pretty woeful in both positions. Luckily the strikers have been playing well and scoring.

I thought that Levein was always looking for some kinda money ball signings. Players like Ade White that would be class if they got fit again. Or taking punt at lower league players that he would train up and sell on.

Sadly that resulted in a bloated squad that was just not good enough.

Sometimes we just need to spend big on know quality like Boyce and Lafferty.

Yeh that’ll be it. 😂😂

Wide attackers are quite often told to move close to defenders so that when play breaks forward they can drag them out of position, leaving gaps for others to move through the centre. It provides an alternative to simply pushing the ball out wide.

Against naive opposition this would especially be effective.

I'm not saying this is definitely what happened, but it is not something unusual.

It's too easy to just jump on someone's back for something you perceive to be their issue, when they might just be doing what they were told.

Roberts hasn't been great, but he's played not even a dozen games. You don't have to look that far back in our history to see players who many would describe now as legends take far longer than 10 games to make an impression...

Fair point mate but from what I’ve seen so far imo he is not good enough for us. To impress me he would not only have to play better but at least look interested.

I saw most of Djoum's matches and he could be as lazy as he was creative.

I think you’ve got to blame the coaching. Sure, some players are just shit and not good enough but managers have failed to get the best out of the players they have.

He definitely did. There was a lengthy period where he was performing below his best. Appreciate it was during a bad time for the club.
