Brandt
The worlds biggest stadiums. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_football_(soccer)_stadiums_by_capacity Would never have thought that North Korea would have the biggest stadium in the world! Always thought that the Maracana was the biggest. Didnt it at one point hold 205,000?
Alan_R
Interesting list there with a few suprises. Couldn't even name a north korean player. Always thought the biggest was the maracana as well. Im sure it must hold record for actual attendance. Malaysia is a strange one as well it is not a huge country yet they have at least 2 massive stadiums. Couldn't name a malaysia player either... shaun maloney?

Maximus
Pretty sure they had to knock part of the Maracana down, a whole tier if I remember right, and make it an all seater. For helf an' safety reasons.
topcat
The Biggest stadium construction ever started was in Nuremburg. Luckily our Grandparents scuppered the project. The idea was to build the German Stadium to hold over 400,000 spectators, making it the "largest sports stadium in the world". The ground plan of the gigantic horseshoe-shaped building is reminiscent of the Ancient Stadium in Olympia. The foundation stone was laid in 1937, but by 1945 work on the site had still not proceeded beyond the excavation stage. The hole that was excavated filled up with ground water, thus forming the present-day Silbersee Lake. The ground that FC Nuremburg play in is the redeveloped Hitler Youth Stadium just down the road. Jambo83
Wouldn't fancy a seat in the back row of that, although at Hearts games last season it might have been less harmful on the eyes...

MMHearts
Amazingly I have been to 22 of these stadiums. The majority watching Hearts, Scotland or Man City games plus a couple of touristy visits when half jugged on holiday.

The picture below shows you the scale of the stadium, as the wee ground to the left holds 20000. and a picture of the wee ground above on the left, you can actually see the big stadium behind.
