Harry Potter
Just got an E-Mail from them regarding a 2 month free trial of their clubcard plus app. So called savings of 10% of 2 shops of your choice in -store. Heres the funny part, after the 2 months free trial you will be charged 7.99 a month. Deleted ,

It encourages such folk to increase the amount they buy at these two shops and also buy more at Tescos rather than elsewhere. I can see why they're promoting it (and were promoting it pre-Covid). Probably bumping up the prices of products by 5-10% along with it. I don't really understand the 2 shop limit and also why in store only. Needs more 'VIP' features imo... seems kind of half done. Perhaps their margin isn't high enough to offer discount on more than 2 shops a month. VIP features like first dibs on the toilet rolls? Jambo314
I shop at Tesco and have a club card, albeit not the £7.99 10% off twice monthly shop. I'm sure when I looked into it, it was actually only Tesco's own branded items that you bought went to the total shop for discount?

Jambo314
I honestly don't buy Tesco's own branded items or shop in Aldi's lol but your probably right. It's be on the go for many months the 10% off gimmick.

"When you use one of your 10% off 2 big shop coupons you’ll get 10% off all your regular grocery shopping in-store. This includes all food, drinks, alcohol, household, pet, baby, fresh flowers and plants, health and beauty. General merchandise and clothing are not included in your big shop, however, if you scan your Clubcard Plus app you'll get 10% off selected Tesco brands all the time." So, the 10% off Tescos items is constant. Although the 2 big shop coupons aren't for everything, they are for most items. However, there is a maximum discount of £20 per shop or £40 in any one month for the 2 big shops. Anti-Disclaimer: I don't work for Tescos. You can cancel at any time, so easy to just take your savings for the first 2 months and then cancel before you move into the fee paying period. andyscott82
During lockdown we’ve changed from going to Tesco for little shops every few days at about 40 - 50 quid, to doing a big shop weekly at around 120 - 200 quid. The 10% off twice a month has saved us between 16 and 20 quid each time. That’s a saving of 32 - 40 quid a month, for a cost of 8 quid. It’s not a difficult decision to make really, if you sit down and do your sums.

pablo
Some consumer insight I was working with in the height of lockdown was a regular person gets 25% of their calories intake out of home. Eating out, sandwich shops, cafés, works canteens etc. The big retailers have picked up the slack and are coining it in as a result as everyone eats and drinks at home. They can sell whatever their suppliers can make and there's much less on promotion. This has been good for the retailers.
