Lone Striker
Just read about the players mentioned by these guys as being the best in L1 & L2 this season. We've picked up a few guys like Keatings, Reilly and Wighton from Championship teams in the past (didn't really get the fans out their seats unfortunately) - but this crisis probably means we'll have to up our game in terms of spotting talented players early (and yes, just live with the continuing risk that many of them won't make it). Our academy doesn't seem to produce regular goalscorers, and money to buy & pay experienced players will be very limited for years to come - so I think we need to be getting active in scouting these leagues quickly. Anyone have any info about any of these L1/L2 players mentioned ? Fyvie and Agnew are older guys. Any worth a gamble for our Championship campaign ? Right Back - Cammy Ballantyne (Montrose) Centre Back - Craig Barr (Cowdenbeath) Centre Back - Sean Crighton (Airdrie) Left Back - Keiran McDonald (Raith) Midfield - Scott Agnew (East Fife) Midfield - Regan Hendry (Raith) Midfield - Fraser Fyvie (Cove R) Forward - Declan McManus (Falkirk, on loan from Ross Co) Also - Zak Rudden scored a barrowload for Falkirk last season in the Championship (on loan from der hun), but didn't do much at Partick since he went there in January. Thoughts ?
gedster
Liked the look of the Cowdenbeath keeper who played against us pre season and in the Tunnocks cup tie at Linlithgow ......pity he was on loan from Hibs though.
Cruyff
Cammy Ballantyne is a good player. Can play the wing back role well. I don't know anything about the other laddies.
Footballfirst
The BBC did an article on the "AVFTT" selection with background on all the players. https://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/football/52465199 One of the interesting ones was Queen's Park striker Salim Kouiser-Aissa. He was with Hearts as a youth player, but was released when he was around 16 without being offered a full time contract. He is now 24. Thoughts ? Craig Barr scored against us for Gretna (possibly Raith too) and has played against us several times. With the injuries he's had and stage of his career, he won't play at a much higher level. McManus scored against us for Raith in the Scottish Cup (Rudi assisted it). He also played against us for Falkirk a couple of months back. Missed a couple of sitters. Fyvie failed at Hibs. Was a prospect at Aberdeen but his career has been pretty meh. Agnew looks like he could kick on and appears to have capability of playing at a higher level.

Another player who broke through early and decided to go down south well before he was ready. 17 games in 3 years before joining Hibs. Chucked his most crucial development phase. Ruined his career. We're going to see a lot of kids do similar, unless the club can find a way of persuading them to stay. Hopefully, if our finances continue to improve (after this Covid 19 situation is over) we might be in a better position to recruit better quality coaches and offer put forward competitive offers to try and hold on to youngsters.
