hughesie27
Something that is off use to them. Wouldn't bother with a card, something like an MP3 player that will keep them entertained.
brownkg
Thats what i was thinking. JUst wandering what the best generic, well liked gifts that old men like given i dont have much time. I object to the old man tag how about you give him peace for about 4 hours no cost to you major benefit to him:dribble: Ifr he doesn't like whisky what about wine or a meal out? Outside of a dog a book is a man's best friend (inside of a dog it is too dark to read) a book by groucho marx? Deep down inside you have left it way too late to curry any favour though
The Future's Maroon
All depends how much your looking/can afford to spend really? A better mobile than he already has? (decent mobiles in Spasda for ?30/?40) Designer aftershave always works for birthdays/Xmas? Books/DVD's? Clothes/Vouchers? Sports item of use (Snooker cue/golf club(s) etc)? I P Knightley
Maybe something thoughtful that indicates you care for him rather than having frantically scrabbled around last thing on the night before his birthday for a present? Subscription to a magazine? Cars, fishing, golf, prawn? Throw us a freakin' bone - what does the man like?

the sub goalie
I was also at a complete loss for what to get my grandad for his birthday a couple of years back and wanted to step away from the usual gift ideas! I decided on a helicopter ride from Lothian Helicopters, a total risk as he had never mentioned anything like it even in passing but im glad to say he totally loved it and has now been on a few of their routes! A wee tip though, if you decide to go for it then make sure he's there nice and early as he will get the front seat and its meant to make all the difference! Good luck
inspector
I'm just about the same age as your Dad and if you're of a similar age to my son, I'd be happy if you'd tidy your room, wash some of the clothes that are scattered everywhere and show me that you still have a carpet underneath all the rest of the ^^^^. Pity that's too much to wish for. Try socks.
