Footballfirst
EEN reporting that Hibs made a profit of £2m in the last financial year, but had an operating loss of £748k. The profit came from the John McGinn transfer which contributed £2.8m to the coffers.. https://www.edinburghnews.scotsman.com/sport/football/hibs/ron-gordon-updates-hibs-fans-strong-financial-position-john-mcginn-sale-and-exciting-vision-club-1555912

airdriejambo3
Gordon wants to make a profit but what he going to do now there is no McGinn transfers in the forseeable future, that was an extraordinary situation and their figures must be concerning for the coming years , their 5.5m wont be long in disappearing unless i'm missing something. Footballfirst
The article gives confirmation that the money he put in to buy the shares, that were earmarked for HSL, has largely gone to pay off the mortgage to STF (£2.25m), leaving them with £1.25m of new money. The club would only have raised £900k from HSL for the same shares as there was a set purchase price. The fact that they are no longer repaying a mortgage will benefit them by £500k a year.for the next 4 years or so.
jackal
So he bought them for a few million, paid of the debt, invested 1.25 million, got 2.8 mill from McGinn and lost 785,00 but have no debts and 5.5 million in the bank. Something doesnt add up but Im sure some hobonomics will make it work. If they are in such good standing why are the being asked to invest in the club? airdriejambo3
Have they really paid off their morgage or has Gordon just bought it and now owns it all separate from HFC business?
Footballfirst
The full accounts haven't been published as yet (probably in the post), but the AGM is scheduled for 26 February. Shareholders are meant to have sight of the accounts two weeks before the AGM.

Saint Jambo
He criticises other clubs for aiming to break even, but the goes on to say that all profit will be re-invested in the football team. If you spend your "profit" within the football club, it isn't "profit", its just income and expenditure, which results in you aiming to break even. But hey, it is some good marketing spin. 1953
So Hibs got a windfall from selling a player, spent some of it and still showed a profit. Just like we did except our windfall was from a benefactor, bet greenginger won't see it like that.

Locky
Not too different from us announcing profits despite the mystery benefactors money being what's kept us operating at a loss? Or is it? They'll bag a tidy windfall when the Elephant Man gets a bigger move. Then they'll be ****ed. Hopefully.

They made a profit and seem to be relatively stable in the short term so not sure there is much in the accounts to be fair. How they sustain themselves without transfers will be interesting. Edin22
He will be taking them for a ride asking them to help fund the indoor pitch and will be riding them straight to the bank. We don't have anyone "propping" us up. There are benefactors that contribute money, but it's not because we've run-out and need them to prop us up. If they didn't donate then we wouldn't spend the money and run up debt.
