Is this thread for bloomin real!!???? Shut yer pus aboot decades, the lot o ye.

 

Facts just get made upnabout the derby, always have. They win one game, maybe two, they're the dominant force. Funny really.

 

Best one was early Vlad days when we were full of big bad foreigners playing industrial football and they were the flairful young Scots.

 

In the 5 derbies that year we fielded more Scots and had a younger average age. No one printed that though.

The millennium was indeed on 1st Jan 2001, but the parties took place a year earlier due to human impatience and the pop stars who led the celebrations wanting to get paid. 
 

Didn’t they teach that at the Pans High School?😊

Hearts and Hibs weren't founded until the late 19th Century, so I think it's okay to ignore what happened in AD 1 and just stick to the commonly accepted and logical interpretation of what a decade means, i.e. if the year begins with an 8 it's the 80s, with a 9 it's the 90s, and so on.

 

BTW - Why did I have to grow up in the only decade since the 19-****ing-20s that Hibs have had a better derby record than us? Two measly wins (etched indelibly in the memory though!)...

Hibs have always celebrated draws as wins against hearts, to hearts a draw feels like a loss, so if you count draws it’s one of their more successful era’s. Will be talked about for years to come as the glory days

Very true.  Even after our horrendous 70s spell we were still something like 22 wins ahead before embarking on 17 and 22.

Before the 3-2 game in 1983, it stood at Hearts 82 Hibs 56 in all three competitions. Remember reading it in the match day programme that day and being pleasantly surprised we were so far ahead. As a kid in the '70's, with no access to, or much interest in, stats, it was easy to assume the derby would be roughly level or, perhaps, in Hibs' favour.

 

Sadly, I gave the programme to my dad to look at that evening and don't recall ever seeing it again.
