They have complete domination over us but the times we win have been through us cheating in some way.   Level playing field when we don't win... playing field not level when we do.

Think the point is people would say the 90s, a decade runs from 1/1/90 to 31/12/99     

 

Most would agree a new decade starts next years, the 20s

There was a year one, which started at zero. It's probably best to count them 0-1, 1-2, 2-3, 3-4 etc.

the argument went on for weeks/months, with him arguing that everyone was wrong. He was a jambo too, so maybe him.

There was no year zero because it was counted in months up until the first year had been completed. The first year starts at 0 and counts up towards 1.

Months 1-12 are part of the first year - year 00 of a decade is the first year in progress. Once you get to 01 this indicates that one full year has passed and you're now into the second year.

We are talking about 2 different things.

 

The 90's decade for example, ran from 90 to 99. Obviously. But IF the very first year was counted as year 1 then a decade would not have passed utill the end of year 10. 

 

The clue is that both sides can be right. I remember this exact discussion happening in 2009 as well.

The Gregorian Calendar, which we all now use, differs from the ancient Roman Calendar, as the Romans had no word for 0.

Whether or not it was celebrated, that’s when it started. Just as the 20th Century started on 1 January 1901.
