You could see the players were willing to play with freedom again without fearing a ticking off from the dugout. Naismith linked everything in the last third and Uche by pulling wide gave the midfield more space to push up into the space where the big man under Levein's leadership would have had his back to goal. Debut 4
Wasn’t a great performance but with more intent and positive thinking it brought opportunities. Simple as that really. St Mirren are murder apart from Andreu who is a decent wee player.

Thomaso
Clare nowhere near the team for a start, or Wighton for that matter. Playing Uche and Naismith up front in a much more positive formation. Great 2nd half and kept pushing for goals. It. was like a dark negative presence had been lifted from the team and stadium. Naismith an obvious example - directing / bollocking players from the off. more 1st choice picks in the team - and we see fringe players like Bozanic play better - by being able to focus on their limited abailities and not have to step up to fill the boots of better players. Levein will be happy we've won, but very wistful as we will most likely see us rise up the table over the next few weeks... Agree with you there on all fronts For what it's worth, I thought Boz was uninspiring till his vital goal. He looked pretty useful at times last season but has done nothing much this term. Agree he should improve with better players, and more leaders around.

Bozanic is a good example of where we’ve been the last 6 months and how we will be in the next 6 months. he is not, and never will be a Naismith / Walker. but his energy adds another 2-3 % to a team of better players. He’s able to pass the ball forwards / sideways - instead of backwards etc etc its small margins, but a single fringe player can be accommodated fine in a team of quality players. our problem has been fielding a team comprising upwards of 5-6 fringe players and hoping for the best. it would take an exceptional and expensive manager to get consistent results coping with that. Mike Tyson
Naismith made a huge difference. A helpful factor was how bad St Mirren are. Our defence was all over the shop, a better team would have taken advantage.

No defensive midfield and those that were supposed to play there, continually got caught in possession or gave the ball away. Too many free kicks conceded outside the box that better teams would have taken advantage off. Damour is a liability, as is Irving defensively. Need Wheelan and Haring back ASAP. Overall a good win, but remember the opposition. What a miserable bunch we are! 🙄 We won, we scored 5 goals, it was entertaining...yet some still focus on the negatives! Cheer up FFS! I think he did have to go though despite this, as the effect of these returning players would’ve been reduced under his management.

Agree. i do think that Clare is an icing on the cake type player - pop him in amongst our strongest team and he’d hopefully surprise us. feel sorry for him in that he’s stepped up to play for us during an awful injury ridden period. He’s not a midfield nuggety player. But he’s not hid behind a vague injury to avoid playing. fingers crossed he come good - primarily for our club and also for him

It was as simple as that, for too long now we have gone onto the park being downtrodden by negativity. The teams that do best in tournaments, whether league or cups, are the teams who set out to win football matches. Today proved we have the basis of a team who can do that quite comfortably and there was no need to line them up negatively for so long. Even when we conceded the two goals today the heads didn't go down, we went back up the park with the intent of getting back in front. It was good to watch, it created a good atmosphere and it has to form the basis of the way to play going forward, irrespective of the opposition. If we can add to the team with a manager who has absolutely no respect for or fear of the Old Firm things can only get better.

By far our best RB and should always be played there unless we're desperate. Much happier with Hickey on the left. The Dikamona-Berra partnership will need time but we'll need to persist with it I think. Another example of injuries hitting us hard as Dikamona is 4th choice CB. boag1874
What I like about todays goals is our wide players weren’t scared to get on the ball and into crossing positions, and also we made sure we had players in the box to receive the cross. Bozanic’s goal for instance, we have at least 3 players right on the 6 yard box & right on top of their back line. It’s no coincidence that all our goals were created from wide positions when we played like this
