Coaching Team

So for weeks/months we have collectively been moaning about the team, performances on the pitch, the manager, the coaches, the board and just about everything  else to do with the club.

It has taken the board or Mrs Budge a long time to decide to remove CL from his various roles but he is now gone albeit still around the club. On the basis that we are looking for our 4th manager in as many years it needs to be the right choice. It may also require some patience from the fans as any new manager is inheriting a squad that he is going to be unable to do much with even in the January window.

There is talk of all levels of managers who we should be bringing in but it doesn’t matter who you eventually end up with if the players are not playing, everyone said CL had lost the dressing room, well it was no better yesterday. There will need to be a clear out but we need to careful we do not jettison someone who Is or could be a player we want or need.

The new man may bring in his own team but that does not fit the model that was being touted as to how we would go forward, I have not seen anything on any of the Comma saying that this is being changed so potentially some, all or none of the coaching team will remain. The bottom line here is we need to get the right person or persons on board. This may take 2 days, 2 weeks or 2 months but it needs to be right so we may need to suck up what happens until a clear way forward is decided on.

There a couple things the fans will need to accept, we are not going to be in the top 6 this year and we are maybe going to be fighting a bit of a relegation battleground(hopefully not but maybe). The fans need to give whoever comes in time so let’s not be booing and calling for him to go after a couple of games. It is is going to be a tough watch I think but let’s all try to get behind the team from now, that’s all we can do. No more talk of boycotts etc let’s just support the team, it’s when times are bad that the true supporters show their colours.

Good luck to whoever takes the job as it is tough ask to turn around a season that has been very poor to this point.

Ann stated that the structure put in place 5 years ago was appropriate for that time, but not now.  I take it that also means the model of promotion from within, as that clearly hasn't worked at all.

Any new manager must be given a free reign to bring in his own staff if he wants, but also have the opportunity to hold onto existing backroom staff.  Most new managers at least bring their own assistant, but they might be prepared to run the rule over the other staff before deciding whether to replace them.

At the end of the day, the new manager will need to have people around him he can trust and who are on the same wavelength.
