It is also notable, maybe for the first time ever that the top British athletes now are 2 women.

Mo Farah perhaps can just about still claim a place if he can avoid being tainted by association to a drugs cheat.

The woman's side of events not just from the excellent GB womans team right through has been far more watchable and competitive.

Mens athletics is missing real character at the moment it's a bit drab ,the 400m hurdles the only stand out mens event I've seen so far .

:rofl:Some crowds this championships had.

Athletics is boring, except the 100m and 200m.

The crowds are ridiculous, athletes doing laps of honour to empty seats...must feel like being at Fester Road.

Seriously though, there has to be investigations into the games being awarded to Doha, starting with Seb Coe...

Great advert for how the World Cup might look in 2022.

The award to Doha back in 2014 is still being investigated in France.

Laura Muir is in with a good chance of a medal and had it not been for injury, exceptional chance of gold.

It's only Russia that cheats, don't you know.

:Aye:

The whole US team failed drugs tests at the Olympic trials for 88, and they covered it up.

Only 5th despite a fast time in a very fast race.

Winner who also won 10,000 is coached by banned Salazar.

(Laura in her interview very happy with run, having been injured recently)

Wonder how long it will be before Hassan is found to be cheating. The link to Salalzar is over whelming and if you think that 1500 was good, her 10k finish was unbelievable. As with super Mo, the clock is ticking till banned substances uncovered.

If you read into Salazar, the whole of Nike's approach to drugs and cheating seems to be do what ever is required and to hell with the rules. The number of cheats they are linked to is shocking.

Having listened to Hassan giving pathetic interview, making out like she is an innocent victim, and that she was nothing to do with Salazar, just makes me believe she is cheat and knows it.

Micheal Johnson telling it likes is is with Gabby Logan. Best summariser on tv, aiong with McEnroe at tennis.

3 medals and 2 British records for Dina Asher-Smith.

1 Gold, 2 Silvers.

Well done to the others in the replay - hardest thing ever to get baton round.

2 silvers in relays. Not bad considering the US men's team is a chemists delight (allegedly, apart from Gatland who is a twice convicted 100% drug cheat).

'The lady doth protest too much, methinks'

So what does she do to protest her innocence and show that she's clean, she runs away from a world class field and sets one of the fastest times in history, yeh that'll not draw attention to yourself.

Justin Gatlin:

2001: Banned for two years after testing positive for amphetamines. Reinstated on appeal.

2006: Banned for eight years after testing positive for testosterone enhancers. Reduced to four years on appeal.

2019: Wins gold as part of the USA 4x100m relay team.

Christian Coleman:

2019: Banned for two years after missing three drugs tests. Reinstated on appeal. Wins gold as part of the USA 4x100m relay team.

The yanks are every bit as bad as the Russians when it comes to doping.

Gave up any interest in dope-infested athletics years ago. Maybe they should just allow a free for all where the medals would reflect the most effective drug regimes.

Much prefer doped Athletes, who wants to see ordinary. Only combat(MMA/Boxing) and real contact sports(NFL/Rugby) is off limits.

Farah did nothing wrong apparently. I suppose it's possible that he is a Christoph Bassons type figure that was clean whilst others around him doped...

Gatlin in only a tenth of a second slower at 37 than he was in his mid 20s and doping. Call me sceptical but I think he might still be dabbling.

probably not but his years of doping will have changed his body to allow his lack of performance drop off.

it does make you think, get someone who is fast but not an athlete get them to dope for a coupe of years while training, then stop doping. After a small period of time enter them in competitions and see how they do

They will do a lot better than if they had never doped. That's why people like Gatlin should be banned for life.

There is some suggestion Salazar did his dopping with the athletes who were just short of elite level.

But there should be a fuller investigation of Farah's diet, nutrition and medical product consumption.

Nike are the main sponsor for the marathon sub 2 hour record.

Maybe help take the heat off them. Or not when it's been questioned for all the help which isn't available during competition.

A bit like doping.

They should just give up and let them all take as much performance enhancing gear as they want. That way everyone is on the same stuff and no one has an advantage.

Especially caught twice, there can be no defence or excuse whatsoever for doping a second time, therefore banned for life, no if's no but's, life.

Then it comes down to who has the most money to pay for the best drugs and best kit.

Add to that the fact that doping has long term health risks for athletes.

It's bad enough as it is now.

Regulation is the only way out of the hole, and nations like the UK and USA constantly appealing stuff and getting people reinstated at the same time as lobbying for Russia to have a blanket ban is pure hypocrisy.
