Your all-time favourites.

Been sitting here this morning watching videos and dvds from seasons going back since 1986 (well not every season but randomly picking seasons) and forgot how good some of our players were at the time. So, to relieve the boredom of no footy season as yet, thought i'd think about and name my top 10 players of all time, and believe me, it was **** hard doing so! So many I had to leave out but anyway, here goes...

John Colquhoun

John Robertson

Rudi Skacel

Colin Cameron

Craig Levein

Paul Hartley

Dave McPherson

Takis Fyssas

Anti Niemi

Mike Galloway

Feel free to add your favourites as there's too many to choose from.

The Gorgie

Rudi, Gordon, Niemi, Hartley. Was too young to appreciate players like robbo. Naismith deserves a mention as he's the only player of recent years to give me any excitement.

Steve Fulton was immense for us.

The team Jeffries assembled, culminating in the 98 cup win, was perhaps my favourite Hearts “era”.

A man of taste I see!

Not to discount the McDonald years, they were amazing, but JJs first tenure, building up a side almost using the McDonald formula, was exciting to behold and the football we played was brilliant.

Oh to see the likes again!

Yes, Clark was on the shortlist for me but just missed out due to Galloway's goals throughout the run to the quarter-finals of the UEFA Cup. Or else Clark would've been named as well.

wheatfield to sheffield

First game I ever saw Gibson and Busby were playing, and Jim Jeffries too, Willie Gibson scored. But, that team was playing East Fife in the first divison and there can be no comparison in quality with the great teams of a decade (85-86) or two (97-98) or three (05-06) later.

Same here. JJ assembled a great side on an absolute shoe string budget. Loved the football we played too, on the front foot and attacking whether home or away.

Go with that list apart from first named. I'm just to young and last named I'll swop for Jim Brown.

Some players are simply x factor players.  Think Botham.  I love them.

For me therefore it's Rudi.  X factor plus.

So many other greats though.

Fair enough - gave his all for us in a bad period and deserves a spot for his Locomotiv Leipzig performance . I wanted to put Peter Oliver in there too - really 11 should be allowed, it's football after all!

I've only watched football for about 15 years so this list will likely be a very different perspective

Rudi

Hartley

Gordon

Fyssas

Bednar

Templeton

Driver

Berra

Souttar

Zaliukas

Some of the current squad (Haring, Uche, Smith) will likely make it onto the list in time. 9 Scottish cup winners in there however, and that'll be something to top

No, I don't think they were.

As it goes, both those Hamilton's were before my time and I thought, perhaps, the poster was referring to brothers even further back in Hearts' history that I wasn't aware of.

Some great names here that could no doubt be in my list as well but as I said, fekin so hard to choose!

No matter who was in charge at the time, good and bad, Mercer, Robinson, Romanov or current...we've had some crackin' players under their individual stewardships, and plenty nuggets. Still couldn't support anyone else other than the JT's.
