RoyCropper
What a fantastic bloke this guy is, was watching a programme on Sky Sports about him and his charity work and it was so refreshing to see a footballer not acting the big time charlie and giving something back to one of the poorest areas in South America where he was raised. A breath of fresh air imo. Well Done http://www.fifa.com/aboutfifa/worldwideprograms/news/newsid=103532.html

Therapist
Big deal. Loads of people give to charity and don't make a song and dance about it.

Therapist
To be fair, De La Cruz has done a bit more than the norm, Ther. Agreed mate. But it's all proportionate to one's income. And he's still a reptile.

Ibrahim Tall
Big deal. Loads of people give to charity and don't make a song and dance about it. Neither did De La Cruz until about 2 years ago when the BBC "revealed" it. Can't help it if Fifa want to interview him over it.

Jamboy81
Nice gesture. Also read something a while back about Craig Bellamy setting up football academies in Sierra Leone. Certainly changed my perception of him.
black stump
No matter where he has played, it's still a great gesture, giving a lot of money to help his ain folk. Strange that it's coming out again though, this is old news ......

Certainly changed my perception of him. Knowing the obxnious creep, it was probably intended to deflect criticism of his racist behaviour. http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/wales/2886661.stm http://findarticles.com/p/articles/mi_qn4158/is_20030702/ai_n12699461

Then again, Sierra Leone is probably one of the countries most deserving of this kind of help so fair play.

He doesn't strike me as the type of person who cares what people say about him. I think he's quaite genuine about it and he should be applauded for doing it. It must be extremely rewarding.
