Straight up, i liked Obama, i dislike Trump. Here's why. Obama attempted (and in many cases succeeded) in making the USA a more inclusive and tolerant place for many. You could feel the difference in the country. Trump on the other hand plays to people who have a view of the world whereby their kind should be elevated above all else. You can also feel the level of divisiveness and intolerance rise due to Trump's attitude and rhetoric. Obama (to my knowledge) didn't abandon any principles or ideals that he held in an all out effort to gain and stay in power, he had a genuine belief in trying to make the USA a better place. Trump only has one principle or ideal and that is Donald Trump and is quite happy to lend his support to any cause that pays enough for it - whether through providing cash to his campaign or in other ways. Obama was weak on foreign policy in the main and tried to foster relationships through understanding different views of the world , Trump's foreign policy is scattergun at best and insulting at worst. Obama began a rebuilding program to stimulate the economy for the good of all. Trumps economic policies have so far seen a decent return with the US economy being healthy but imo opinion, it's coming at a cost that we don;t yet know due to cuts in environmental protections, regulations on the finance industry and more. Was Obama the greatest president ever? Absolutely not but i'd rather have someone with a general desire to improve the lives of many as opposed to one with a general desire to improve his life and to hell with the rest. Obama showed up unannounced in Toronto at the recent NBA playoff game between the Toronto Raptors and the Golden State Warriors. He got a standing ovation from the 20,000 crowd, along with loud chants of "MVP, MVP." In the meantime, it was reported that Trump is viewed favourably by only 9% of Canadians, the lowest of any American president ever, by far. I read today that the comparable figure in the UK is 21%. I'm well aware that what Canadians or the British think of any US president doesn't amount to a hill of beans, but if Trump really want to MAGA, he needs to consider how the country is viewed through the eyes of America's allies. Sharpie
I watched Colbert last night, had a good laugh when he showed a garden in England on the route where Trumps plane would come in to land, and a young lad had cut in the grass with a lawn mower a large penis with Trumps name under it. Colbert commented that if Trump looked down and saw the penis it would be the first time in years he could do that and see one. It struck me as funny, and as has been mentioned on a couple of occasions when it come to that type of comedy you just can't beat the Brits.
