Don't argue, post the album you've heard that means you can go to music paradise.

One per post.  Shove your lists.  :cheese:

Spirit of Eden by Talk Talk. 30 years old now, and nothing's come close since (apart from the follow-up, Laughing Stock). Just the right mix of soul, orchestration, noise, ambience and sheer beauty.

Neil Diamond, Hot August Night.

Blondie - Parallel Lines

OMG it's over 40 yrs old now and still one of the best albums ever made imo.

Great choice.  Saw them at Hyde Park last year and have tickets for Glasgow this year.

Are you going to see them?

For me, Queen, anything by Elton or Linda Ronstadt.

Ok.  Just noticed the stipulation of ‘one per post’.  Sorry, Uly.

Elton.

As it's one per post, another classic.

Its hard to pick a best Bowie album.  My choice varies depending on my mood, but for now I'll go with Aladin Sane.

Different Drum is one I particlarly like, got the single somewhere, strangely was never a hit in the UK for some reason.

Sadly not in Dublin, unless I pay a fortune to a "secondary" seller.   I missed the chance to get tickets for their Malahide Castle gig in June.

I still haven't given up on another European venue, and trying to figure out how I work a gig into a holiday trip.  Oeiras looks like an attractive option.  :whistling:

Quite erm... ‘nice looking’ too, wasn’t she?  ?

Sad that she's ended up with Parkinson's and can't sing anymore.

Transformer, Lou Reed.

Can't begin to describe the effect this had on me on first hearing, amazing, and made me look further for musical influences...apparently I like a lot of weird stuff, quotes from Mrs KvC and #1 daughter.

Tom Waits Raindogs. It has so much going on and so many sides of his writing, mad stories, beautiful ballads, and noisy madness. Lucky enough to see the tour at The Playhouse and it is still in my top 3 gigs of all time.

With "Sweet Thing" being my favourite track. The lyrics and arrangement are stunning.

Plenty other artists to choose from but

saw them few years back in Glasgow perform the whole album through which makes it a bit extra special

I mean, it's the Subhumans, are you daft?!?!...go buy the vinyl reissues, strap on your studded belt, pour a drink and embrace this LP's historic, inspiring brand of amazing punk rock fun, politics, irony, '**** you,', spilled beer and never-ending radness...no really...go buy it...or else radioactive badgers will chew off your face..and everyone wants to keep their face from a vicious badger chewing...everyone!

Epic.

A demonstration of their ability to take a mixture of art rock, new wave and soft rock songs from their collection and turn them into stadium anthems.

It's the perfect album. From the cover and the title track to Train in Vain. If I could only listen to one album for the rest of my life it would be this. The band changed my life. No shit.

Is that the Album that Mick Ronson produced for Lou Reed?

I am another vote for Queen, but going back to the early days and Queen II.  March of the Black Queen is amazing and it shows the beginnings of two of their other epics.

Tough choice (too tough)

But probably this

Shostakovich subtitled it “A Soviet Artist’s Response to Justified Criticism” , usually thought to be a front for it really expressing the tragedy of Stalin's russia and the death of his friends at the hands of the regime

Some great suggestions so far - I love Queen, Big Country and Blondie. I discovered The River by Bruce Springsteen when I was 12 and it blew me away. However THE album of choice would have to be Born To Run. Under 40 minutes but no fillers
