JWL Posted October 5, 2018 Share Posted October 5, 2018 Anyone remember this guy? Just been reading about him. Born in Ireland but lived in Port Seton. Tried to row across the Atlantic in a boat 13 foot long to create a new world record (previous record held by a boat 20 ft long). Apparently got to within 300 miles of the Irish coast, 156 days after setting off from Newfoundland and he was never seen again. Now, this was back in 1980 and my mind may be playing tricks but I seem to remember people that knew him kept popping up on STV News and Reporting Scotland saying they had seen him well after he was reported missing presumed dead.
