Well done Lee, MacLean and all the other debuts

Was always going to be a tough first competitive start, but the boys held their own. Just need to work on finishing and we'll be racking up the goals!

Just saw the goals on hearts tv. Olly Lee with a great first touch, quick one two and first time finish into the bottom corner from outside the box. When was the last time we had a midfielder playing like that? Someone as direct and confident as that with the ability to match?

Regardless of the opposition and how competitive the game is its just good to see us scoring and winning away from home. Been abysmal on the road for ages.

Another win on saturday and hopefully we will carry that mentality into the league.

Mulraney and Bozanic also unlucky not to get debut goals. Mulraney was unplayable in the first half and Bozanic had a free-kick narrowly wide and a chance cleared off the line in the second half. You can see a bit of a goal threat in pretty much every new signing. Haring will likely get goals from set pieces as well, and Zlamal's a bit mental so he'll probably get one somewhere along the way!

Not to compare (as I'd probably get hounded for it) but Rudi?

Too far!  Sir Paul maybe, then let's see!

I typed that then deleted it for that reason. Sir Paul and risk are the only ones in recent times in my opinion. And apparently from lafferty(and I suppose maybe Paterson to some extent) that applies to the whole team not just the midfielders.

Love the sound of that.  The game needs characters.  And if Lee is to reach the standards of Hartley and/or Rudi?

Fingers crossed.  Very exciting prospects for the season.

Judging by preseason and then again tonight Olly is going to find the net a good few times this season

The thought of Ollie and Djoum together on the park gives me a little movement.

Steven MacLean playing on artificial pitch has been mentioned. Maybe the quality of the pitch was a factor in his decision.

Or maybe him not playing on these pitches was St Johnstone's decision not his.

Still curious but encouraging.

Maybe he's used to 4G now after training at Riccarton...

Levein said he had been bugging him to get gametime and as the pitch was new he was less worried about it.
