Shrek, which won 1 Oscar.

E.T., which won 4 Oscars.

Did anyone on JKB actually like either of those?

I must have misinterpreted the thread. I thought we were talking about films we hadn't seen that were actually good.

Bridge of Djoum

Every single Star Wars. Worse are the throbbers who cream themselves over which order to watch them in. I actually saw 2 people have a heated debate over that,

Every Mission Impossible.

Matrix.

I saw ET after a number of years and thought it hadn't aged very well. Then a friend showed it to his kids and they absolutely loved it. So I guess its me that hasn't aged very well in relation to the film. I've outgrown it but it still works for the intended audience.

Love Shrek though.

You really need to give the Matrix a watch, brilliant film.

Love it, so funny, but the sequels don’t cut the mustard for me.

Avatar. Despite all the hype about the effects being used and investment on the film, I couldn't be arsed going to see it. To this day, although it has been broadcast on Sky and terrestrial TV many times, I've yet to have any urge to watch it. I still have no idea what general plot is. I may be missing out...

Star Wars. Star Trek.

Going on holiday this week with friends who want to see the new Star Wars whilst we’re away. I’ll happily stay by the pool or head to the bar and leave them to it.

Or Fight Club

Or The Usual Suspects

The usual suspects is the first time I ever walked out of the cinema wanting to go straight back and watch a film again. Absolutely fantastic film, I also love fight club too but I guess it spoke to people of a certain generation

The second one is my favourite of the series. Not as keen on 3 and 4 though.

To Kill A Mockingbird

These are are both great films and I can’t understand why you wouldn’t want to see at least one of them (to kill a mockingbird) - it’s a wonderful life is great but you do have to suspend your ‘grumpy old Scrooge manness’ to enjoy it...

Not a film, but I'll throw Game of Thrones into the mix. One of the reasons I refuse to watch it (other than the fact it looks shite) is that it pisses off fans of the series when they can't discuss the shite plot with you.

Same. My bloody neighbour loves it and doesn't STFU about it.

I hardly ever watch films. I really enjoy them when I do, but my movie ignorance is unreal.

I only figured out the other night that the guy that looks like Keanu Reeves in Speed, is actually Keanu Reeves

Toy Story as well.  All three, great films.  Never get tired of watching them and it's the rainy do go-to with the kids.

I would recommend Avatar. Its about blue tree hugging hippies that ride birds. I thought it looked shit but it's really enjoyable.

Not seen any of these either although back in 70s I used to enjoy star trek on the telly.

I've never seen a single Rocky film, yet could probably tell you the plot and key scenes from each one thanks to the number of times they've been referenced in popular culture. No idea if they're any good though.

I've personally never watched a Bond film.  Not one.

Never watched a Star Wars

Never watched a Lord of the Rings

Watched one Harry Potter years ago after a night out and the chemicals consumed during the night didn't even make it bearable.

You should give One Flew Over the Cuckoos Nest a go. Fantastic film.

Schindlers List is outstanding as well but is on for ages (over 3 hours).

I have avoided the Deer Hunter, One flew over the cuckoos nest and Schindler’s list all because of my small minded prejudice against American hype. I recognise I’m probably wrong but can’t bring myself to watch them. I have the same problem with mainstream American literature post Steinbeck/late 50s.
