DETTY29
Very good piece from ESPN. May not agree with VAR, but good explanation and best I've seen so far. http://global.espn.com/football/england/story/3434351/did-var-make-the-correct-penalty-decision-in-england-vs-italy?platform=amp&__twitter_impression=true
Mikey1874
They are going to use it at the World Cup. That's its big test. Better get it right. But wonder if anyone is actually accountable.
Lord Beni of Gorgie
What Australia has been brave enough to do this week, the UK never will. The player admits he stood on his foot but claims its not a pen? Cheating? Football is different so that's a bit strong, but what is for sure, people don't want to take responsibility even when its proved clearly as it was by video last night. Rather embarrassing for England, but its all deflection as this weeks scandal has been in cricket. How many people know the English cricket team were concurrently being thrashed by New Zealand despite 2 days of rain, not many I would wager. Far easier to deflect attention. If they can't take responsibility then it is little wonder when failure becomes acceptable. And in case anyone English takes offence, we are probably worse. I'll give you Lithuanian divers. VAR is long overdue in football, good piece that describes accurately why people have said no, they prefer to imitate the ostrich.
