Geoff Kilpatrick
Sad news to those of us who love radio commentary of football. Jimmy was one of the first I ever listened to as a small boy as my Dad drove to and from Ballymena Showgrounds. Irish League teams didn't have floodlights then so we used to get most of the second half of the English game on Radio 2 with Peter Jones and Brian Butler commentating. billco98
Yes, very sad news, Geoff. You would never know from hearing him on the radio that he was an octogenarian. He had boundless enthusiasm for the game he loved. I remember him playing for his beloved Blackpool in the 50's and 60's, and for England. As a radio football pundit his contributions were always spot-on, informed and fair. RIP Jimmy Armfield.
