The reports say the money was eventually recovered in that case so it could be a case of wait and see the outcome of investigations in these situations. Although I can only speak for the east coast and present day, their idea of everybody being out to get them is pathetic. Struggling to think of a time in recent memory where I've witnessed any prejudice against Catholics, all I've seen is people being mocked for believing in God rather than abuse, and it's all Christians that get that, not just Catholics.
