i8hibsh
http://www.londonhearts.com/scores/players/kitchenperry.html 40% up to December last year, website not fully up to date. Barely won since Decemember so under 20% is likely. That is tragic.
jambos are go!
Can leave with his head held high. Gave 100% and that is all you can ask. Maybe did not fit in with proposed style but still gave all. Good luck to him if he goes.

Watt-Zeefuik
Kitchen is very good at what he does, which isn't enough for Cathro. He's an excellent defensive-minded midfielder who can hold possession and disrupt the attack, but is missing the quality of playmaking and creativity from the deep role, which is what Cathro demands from that position. I'll continue to be a fan after he's left Hearts and hope he does well. He embraced Hearts' history wholeheartedly when he came, played with passion, and never backed down when the OF thugs showed up and tried to intimidate us. Constantly standing up for his teammates. I also appreciate that unlike Oshaniwa, he's not content to sit and collect a paycheck and wants regular team football. This should mean there are few issues with resolving his contract and finding him another club, which I think he'll have no trouble with. I think he'd make a decent player for a bottom half English Championship club that plays defensively.
i wish jj was my dad
The Don was always a better option but unlike a few of this season's impostors Perry always gave 100%. He just doesnt fit in our current coach's plans. no hard feelings from me.
Holyrood_Hearts
I like Kitchen but the reality is he doesn't suit the way IC wants to set out the team. Unlike some of his wage-thief team mates who have already left, I'll be sad to see Perry go but wish well wherever he ends up.

Glamorgan Jambo
I just hope we're not repeating January's mistakes - ie making too many changes at once. Can't help thinking that letting both Ozturk and Rossi leave was a mistake. And while I'm not a huge Perry Kitchen fan I've no doubt he could be a decent squad player next season. Don't forget even the best players can take a while to settle - see Don Cowie for an example.
HamishMcGonagall
I noticed that but my interpretation was that his gestures were to the fans to calm down on the moaning, groaning and booing and get behind the team. Could well be that sometimes it was aimed at the fans but the times I meant were clear as day to the players around him, stopping players taking quick throw-ins n free-kicks. Annoyed the hell out of me. Hand gestures apart though I wouldn't have minded having him round as a squad player as he did have the odd good game. Seemed a decent lad aswell, good with the fans, read up on mccraes battalion when he first arrived. All the best to him.
Diadora Van Basten
He's an out and out defensive midfielder but I don't think we really need an out and out defensive midfielder. Buaben and Djoum can both play that role and start moves. Kitchen was a good ball winner but his first touch wasn't good enough and his passing was limited. If he had played in the 2006 team he would have been ideal.

Nothing personal against the guy, but I'm almost certain you can connect the decline of Hearts to the signing of Perry Kitchen, and obviously the departure of Osman Sow. Perry Kitchen came with a fanfare, but has been a big letdown, won't be missed.
Cruyff Turn
I honestly don't think he is a bad player. I think he's a very limited football ball player technically but has good tactical discipline, understands how to play as an anchor man, is also a very fit guy and a good athlete with a professional attitude. Problem I believe is that he isn't very versatile, he is not and never will be a box to box midfield player nor is he a deep lying playmaker. His role is simple, block passing lanes between the oppositions midfield into their forwards, track or mark any free runners, cover across for full backs or centre backs who are out of position, make tackles and play simple passes into more creative players. If a team is setting up 4-1-4-1 sitting deep and looking to play on the counter then a player like Kitchen is necessary in front of a back 4. But that is pretty it. He clearly doesn't fit into Cathros philosophy in which we are the team with the ball rather than the team that is happy to concede possession. It's just a case of a contrast of style being the reason why he hasn't featured.

portobellojambo1
Attitude was first class but he isn't very good and upset the balance of the team so much that our slide began almost the moment he arrived. I think he was brought in to play what might be classed as a defensive/holding sort of player, and in all honesty he wasn't very good at it, and we don't play enough sides in our league to even justify someone in that sort of specialist role. I have little doubt he did offer his best each time he went out, but the position and/or style of play in Scotland just didn't suit the way he approached games. It is really the sort of role that someone like Scott Brown, Roy Aitken, Peter Grant, for example, played for Celtic and Stuart McCall specialised in at Rangers. Break up play, but then have the ability to turn potential defensive situations in to opportunities to attack. I have nothing against the guy whatsoever, but him leaving shortly does give us the opportunity to look at a different type of midfield option. They don't appear on Ebay, or pop up regularly at other clubs but we are really needing a player along the lines of Colin Cameron/Paul Hartley, just to create continuity between midfield and the attacking players. I hope he is able to find a side who play in a league and in a style which suits his play, but his time at Tynecastle is up now and a move will do him good (I hope). Neil Berry in the 1980s, Stefano Salvatore in late 90's, Brellier in mid 2000s. These guys allowed players like Mackay, Cameron and Hartley make their runs, knowing that they were backed up. I believe any good team needs one. Block the lanes, close down the opposition, make interceptions, play the simple passes (but not always backwards!). France IMO has been the best nation in the world at developing these players, with Kante a shining example at the moment, but they've also been "lucky" with having some exceptional athletes and football players too who have brought it to a different level. Could add Karipedis, Barr and Mrowiec to that list. Neil Berry was my favourite. The player we've had recently who I thought would be closest to Neil Berry in style and importance to the team if tried in that role was Ryan McGowan. I can't remember if we ever tried him in more of a central mid role but might have been worth a shot. Kitchen was ok as a ball winner and physical presence in front of the defence but he simply went backwards too often and couldn't create. I think he was supposed to be more of a deep lying midfielder - like Gomis - than a defensive midfielder for us, i.e. not just win the ball and bring it away from the danger zone but also start attacks from deep - but he wasn't able to dictate the tempo like Gomis did in the Championship. He possibly could be a good sitting defensive mid but I think Neilson and Cathro wanted him to do more of a deep lying midfielder job and he wasn't capable. I'd like to see Djoum tried in that role as he seems to do it well for Cameroon.

Neilson's Shank
Some incredibly harsh words on this thread, particularly when you consider that our biggest problem since December is the team being full of Charlatans who wouldn't apply themselves properly. That's one thing Kitchen can't be accused of. You'll always get plenty effort from him but his lack of actual ball skills means he doesn't fit in with Cathro's 'total football' philosophy (a philosophy I'm not convinced will ever work in Scotland). Good luck to the guy wherever he goes. This sums it up for me, different styles need different players but it is an expensive and frustrating transition. Other than Cowie, Kitchen's the only current player who presses.I don't think Cathro's given him a fair crack of the whip.Especially when you consider the game time given to Tzoilis and Djoum to prove themselves. This. Superb workrate compared to most of the others. We have had a player like this I the past who wins the ball and gives it off to somebody more constructive. Pallardo, Brellier, Salvatore come to mind. These 3 had good players in front of them who made things happen up front. The problem for Kitchen was our forwards or attacking midfielders were very limited to say the least so it made him look unproductive. Every team needs somebody like this it's just a pity for Kitchen that Cowie will probably fill this role. Good luck Perry wherever you go. 100% effort if nothing else. From the looks of it Cathro would rather play a single playmaking DM in front of three CHs with wingbacks. In that scheme Kitchen has no role except to step back and play as a CH, and I don't think he wants to do that or would particularly shine there. There are plenty of clubs where an entirely defensively minded CM would be welcome. I hope he finds a good one.

Seemed a decent lad aswell, good with the fans, read up on mccraes battalion when he first arrived. All the best to him. Yet we spent the second half of the season taking quick short free kicks in the final third which inevitably ended up with the ball going sideways or backwards without the ball going anywhere near the box. What we could have done for a cool head in most of those games slowing decision making down so we were more constructive with possession. His best games were the two home games to Rangers where we played a pressing game. Dropped for the home game to Hibs when we we lost the battle in midfield. The kind of player that we need in games where we are under pressure - Celtic, Rangers, Aberdeen, and away games at places like St Johnstone. Less necessary in many home games and away at places like Hamilton where we need more creativity to break teams down. My worry is that central midfielders with the technical skill to play Cathro's he but the physical ability to do so in the Scottish game may be out of our price range. Hope I'm wrong.
