Bellion
Would make a lot of sense for everyone. McInnes probably can't do much more with Aberdeen and will probably want another crack at managing in England. Why not now, given that his stock's as high as it's ever likely to be. And given the state they're in, Sunderland will have to give whoever they appoint a bit of time to rebuild them completely, so no immediate pressure on him to do anything massive. Sunderland will need someone who's willing to work to a budget and who'll organise a side. A lot of higher-profile English managers will probably want a lot of ? before they agree to take on that mess, which the owner doesn't seem to want to give. Walter Smith's also been advising Sunderland and he'll obviously know McInnes from his Rangers days. It would also be quite pleasing from our perspective. Squirt
Would be good for us, and sadly Rangers, to have a bit of instability about Aberdeen. They've had a solid foundation for a few years now and it's paying off. Cracking move for McInnes personally if it were to happen.

bb8
Got a feeling they'd go for Tommy Wright if that's the case. Which may not create the instability that others predict. Good move for McInnes though.

Futurejambo1
Massive loss for Aberdeen of there's any truth to it, difficult to replace and not sure Tommy Wright is the answer, maybe they could tempt Cathro !
Bellion
Alex Neil would be a stick on for the Aberdeen job I doubt Alex Neil will want to take any job in Scotland. Bit hard done by at Norwich. He'll want another crack at the Championship and I think he'll get one.
A_A wehatethehibs
Wouldn't rule out Hartley for the Aberdeen job either, if McInnes goes. Hartley was captain and did his coaching badges while playing there.

Spellczech
Don't like the idea of celebrating because of bad news for Aberdeen. Whilst I don't care for other clubs I only actively dislike the OF and want hard times to befall them...

RustyRightPeg
Interesting if true. Would be a massive wage cut for Sunderland at the management position. They need a massive rebuilding job going into the Championship. I think it's a decent gamble for them to take, whether he would think he's ready to go down south for a second chance is another matter.

socrates82
Other candidates Kevin Philips Nigel Pearson Alan Pardew Would be surprised if McInnes got in ahead of them. He'd also be a massive downgrade on Moyes prestige and record wise. McInnes has done what he had to do but there will always be the asterix against his name that he had no real competition during his best seasons and still only got a League Cup to show for it. Credit for this season though with a bit more competition at least in the first half of the season from us and Rangers and the second half from Rangers. Bellion
Other candidates Kevin Philips Nigel Pearson Alan Pardew I could see Phillips, but I think they might struggle to attract either of the others unless there's guarantees about the budget. The way Sunderland are going, it could be a very long year for them. There will be other jobs available for the likes of those guys sooner or later. In fact I can see Pearson going to Boro, who've got a chairman who cares enough to back the manager a bit.
Glamorgan Jambo
Mcinnes was an abject failure at Bristol City. Would be a huge risk for Sunderland that they don't have to take. I'll put this down to pre cup final mischief making.

SwindonJambo
I would have thought that Alex Neil must be in the frame for this.
