Anyone seen the spat between these two?

Apparently, Spike got up at the Cannes film festival and criticised Clint for not featuring any black soldiers in his two films, "Flags of our Fathers" and "Letters from Iwo Jima"

Okay, there was supposedly 900 black marines at Iwo, but I have read many accounts of that battle and cannot find any incidents featuring these men in the front line, has anyone got any info here. These men were mainly usually used for donkey work in the US forces on the whole in WW2 which was a scandal. But there were combat units in Europe and of course the famous "Tuskegee Airman" who were widely praised by Bomber crews as some of the best escort fighter pilots that they had ever served with.

Now "Letters from Iwo Jima" was made from the Japanese persepctive. I am pretty sure that no black Yanks fought for Japan(!)

I think Spike Lee's films are bore-fests. I was looking forward to seeing "Malcolm X" and it nearly put me to sleep. "Summer of Sam" was I thought going to be a type of "Zodiac" film and it was virtually a porn film!!!

"25th Hour" was a good film but ironically, I cannot remember any black characters in it!!

I think Clint's retort on hearing this from Clint was great:

"I wish the guy would shut his face!"

Spike just stirring it here. Clint's record on race is exemplary and never a hint of that crap about him.

Spike, shut your face.

25th hour is decent and Do the Right Thing is amazing.

Apart from that, Spike Lee's other work is not great.

I don't think he has a point here either.

Black people are allowed to be racist.

Not really fair if you ask me..........

The unfortunate thing is that society by and large sees "racism" as white people that hate black people.

I don't like Spike Lee either and agree that he is a racist. I find it abhorrent in modern society that we dislike, even hate, another human being for reasons that are outwith their control ie colour and gender.

Apart from gingers, I 'ate them. ;)

Reading this Lee might just have a point interms of the films but to accuse Eastwood of doing it deliberately is out of order,he comes across as a bit of a twerp they way he argues his case taking away any point he has.

The US forces were rife with segregation in WW2 still is in some parts ,Our Grandads and grans during ww2 can hold there heads slightly higher as they for the most part stood up to the segregation when US troops were stationed here.

Mr Lee should have read up more on his subject matter before having a go at the director of two of the best war films it has been my privilege to watch.

Spike Lee it seems is turning into one of his characters from "Do the right thing" - the one who wants to boycott Sal's pizza place because "there are no pictures of any brothers on his wall"!

Spike Lee would rather assume his facts are right than actually do the homework and find out he's wrong. Guy is pure hatred.
