auldy19
Came across this article (apologies as it's the sun) . Craig Levein got him to play for Cowdenbeath one day when he was on holiday in Edinburgh ! Also talks very fondly of his time at hearts and wishes he had played here for longer https://www.thescottishsun.co.uk/sport/football/790673/former-hearts-stopper-pasquale-bruno-has-a-decorated-cv-but-one-name-stands-out-in-his-list-of-clubs-cowdenbeath/

auldy19
Think people forget what Bruno actually achieved in his career. Club wise probably one of the most decorated players to have represented hearts !

Meadows
I absolutely love Bruno , the man was immense . From booting without discretion a variety of Hibs players, his celebrations at Celtic park and his demeanour in general. Another player who 'got' us ! pablo
If anyone is feeling flush, a match worn Torino shirt from their UEFA cup final against Ajax is on that classic football shite. It's number 2 and was either worn by Bruno in the first leg or whoever replaced him when he was suspended for the second leg. It's really smart. fabienleclerq
Was my favourite player when I was younger. I actually went to the game at Cowdenbeath, think it might've been the winter break or internationals as hearts weren't playing.
Debut 4
I absolutely love Bruno , the man was immense . From booting without discretion a variety of Hibs players, his celebrations at Celtic park and his demeanour in general. Another player who 'got' us ! He did realise what it meant to play for Hearts and it probably enhanced his displays. However, not by much! He was already a full blooded, personal pride filled player who'd give his all anywhere. Not that it belittles his time at Hearts by saying that, it's obvious the club made an impression on him. The environment at the time with JJ in charge would've appealed to him hugely. Remnants of Standards
He committed one of the worst fouls I've seen at Tynecastle, against Dean Windass elbowing him in the throat after being hacked at 2 or 3 times. In hindsight I think it's wrong I burst out laughing at the time, but Dean Windass does that to you.

Rudy T
I remember fondly a game at Tynie against Hibs about 1995. Chris Jackson who I knew from my boys club days was all the news the week leading up to the game, I didn't rate him at boys club level but fair play he made it to pro level. He was a little too cocky for my liking when he was getting the press coverage considering it was a derby. Not more than 5 minutes into the game and you could see what was coming Jacksons way. He got the ball in front of the Wheatfield and as he started to run that Bruno gasp went up around us.....you knew the minute Bruno started running where the ginger haired lad was going to land....He was duly dumped on his chorus and verse in row two of the Wheatfield. Bruno casually walks away with that wry grin on his face! One of many to feel the force of Bruno. If you got past Salvatori there was the other Italian to beat...not many managed that. Another thing our players lack. And I wonder how many of those on that list came to the club talking about moving away from the club on to better things from day one......... either they did say it and I've erased it from my mind, or as I suspect was more likely to be the case - NONE of them came here with intentions of using us as a 'stepping stone'. Players who wanted to be here and wanted to be Hearts players.

Funny story about De Vries...He was supposed to be on the bench against Hibs so went up town on the Friday night and had a few shandies. Got home too 5 missed calls from Craig Levien. Listened to the answer machine and discovered he starting due to injuries. So a hungover Mark De Vries still managed 4 against the hibs!

queensferryjambo
I met him once. He was with a very young Paul Ritchie. I met him at the West End on the Sunday of the 1998 cup final parade just before we headed up to Tynecastle for the celebrations. He must have been back in Scotland for the game. Me and my mate got our photo taken with him and had a chat - unfortunately the photo was taken by my sister in law on her camera and has long since been lost I always hold out hope the photos from that day turn up somewhere. I still have my photos from my camera on the Saturday but alas all the Sunday ones are gone.

Interesting to read this thread alongside the Greg Tansey one. On the one hand we seem to have a cry to sign foreign players (of the ilk of Bruno) and on the other there's a cry bemoaning "foreign nobodies" and we should stick to British players. Clearly this is a bit of a generalisation of the two discussions but interesting - I thought.
