Was heartbeat based on a true story?

I mentioned ''Looks Like'' and I wasnt being derogatory either

Check all posts please

Massive fan of BM and  dont mind the idea of watching the Drama

My comparison was... it started like a scene from Heartbeat, can you grasp that ??

Jambo dans les Pyrenees

Quite literally decades since I watched Heartbeat but it had a character called Greengrass" in it then.

A smelly, lying tramp who would make up all sorts of nonsense to rob people.

I'm voting for true story.

Nobody was 'downing' him he was one of England's star players and therfore fair game for a bit of banter with the Scots fans. This was at a time when people weren't so easily offended.

I remember the Scotland v England games at the time 50000 Scots at Wembley all singing 'Where's yer bracelet Bobby Moore ? It's in yer handbag it's in yer handbag

Bobby Moore.

His cancer had eff all to do with it . He was part of an England side that we had a real rivalry with at the time.

The English loved to beat us just as much as we wanted to beat them.

If you had been there at the time you would have joined in the songs it would have been your duty as a red blooded Scotsman.

They were great occasions these matches.

Sweaty cheeks has started this thread with the sole intention of starting a square-go.

One poster has been drawn into it but only through liking it to Heartbeat.

Me thinks the OP has misread how well respected Bobby Moore was by the Scots support and nobody would go the route of slagging the guy off.

I look forward to his next rambling attempt.

They don't half portray Ron Greenwood as a right miserable so and so.

I think he went on to become England manager and yet he could hardly raise a smile when they won the World Cup.

Jealous of Ramsay's success perhaps ?

Anyway great story and a nice look back at a more uncomplicated era.

If Beckenbauer and Moore had both been the same nationality they would have been the best centre back pairing ever. Two of the all time greats.

He was a miserable so and so. He got the England job on a temp basis when Review chucked it and ran off to the Middle East. I had the pleasure of seeing Scotland beat England (with two own goals) just before we went off to the 74 world cup . Ron was greetin' that day.

Revie was the manager though. Greenwood took over around 77.

Yes I think you are correct John.

We bossed them around that time.

We qualified for the World Cups in 74/78 and 82 they failed in 74/78 and only scraped in in 82 due to a surprise result

elsewhere.

Bobby Moore is very well respected in Scotland

Obviously less people now remember him

Banter and a bit of abuse doesn't change that.

Other English players too

Kind of misjudging the relationship between Scotland and England also
