No convinced the quality is comparably that good (can't recall last time I had one from elsewhere), but quantity is impressive- you get 1.5 massive potatoes. Butter, salt and cheddar on a tattie purist sort of day.... Or spicy mushroom if I'm feeling like going a bit exotic. Great baked potatoes. Haven't had one in a while actually, must rectify that. My first job was in the 1980s and I was based at the foot of Cockburn Street. Being the youngest in the office, I was sent up to the baked tattie shop to get tatties for the office. It was my first experience of proper baked tatties as my mum was a lousy cook. Being the 80s my filling of choice (influenced by the women in the office) was cheese, onion and pineapple. Filling of choice there is a Ham-Cheese-Spring onion mayo mix (cheese savoury-like) or a cheese and beans - amazing! I do four potatoes, two for me, one for the missus and then a forth one for the wee man's lunch the next day where we just scoop out the soft potato. He's seven months so no teeth yet. highlandjambo3 Posted September 9, 2016 Share Posted September 9, 2016 I actuallt run a part time business selling these at highland games/horse shows and other events spring, summer time....................... if making yourself, rub the spud with olive oil and rock salt.............. oven at 180 and after about 1.1/2 hours poke a skewer through to check for resistance...........if none then its done....................enjoy. ( you dont need to cover with tinfoil to cook either...................if you have the time allow the spud to cool for a few hours then zap in microwave, as the tattie cools it takes in the flaviour of the skin and tastes great (will be a slight yellow/brown colour) cook 3-4 at the same time as they freeze quite well.
