hughesie27
It's obviously mroe than 3.5 miles but I don't have the time nor sadness to work that out. My estimation would be about 5 miles taking into acocunt all the corners and you also need to take taffic lights into acocunt. I was indeed jogging. You go and do it! Del1812
Walked from Forrester to Princess Street several times in my life. Not sure of the distance but usually takes me just over an hour so I get the guys' point that you should have a faster time. Although I'd maybe estimate Sighthill being slightly further away and a longer route making it about a mile more.

Del1812
Don't your estimate is too accurate Hughsie. I just worked out the route I take from one of those websites provided here. My route is 4.1miles from my house, up to and then along Corstorphine and finishing at Frasers at the West End. I'd therefore take a stab that your route was closer to 5 miles, making 40 minutes a lot more respectable.

Rawrrrrrrr
I would add to the comments that is a pretty average time ( and thats being nice) I walked over the forth bridge and back which is approx 3 miles in just over 40 minutes an extra half mile at a jogging pace in around the same time is pretty poor Are you sure your measuring the distance right
hughesie27
In hind sight it was actually more like 35 mins but I definitely wasn't going at a slow pace. From the house to Tynecastle it took 15 mins. Going along the Calder Road main road then past Arnold Clark and into Gorgie. If walking pace is around 4 mph then I'd say I must have been averaging just at least 7 or 8. Anyway, I'm lightening fast short distances:D

Sooperstar
Under 25 minutes is quite impressive for somebody who claims he's not fit. And i know there is a shortcut. Interesting. I started at the back and worked my way past the rest of the team mate. If I had cheated I'd have been seen. The only way I can think that you could cheat would be to cut through some of the bits of grass instead of following the road, but the grass is fairly long so I'm not sure how much an advantage it would be. I got to the top of the hill and knew who was left in front of me and decided I was going for top 5, finished 4th. It's just about making sure you keep going. Both my laces were undone but I knew if I stopped to tie them I wouldn't get started again! Hopefully take a bit off my time on Thursday.
